Announcement time for university admission scores in 2024
After the virtual filtering period, universities will announce the admission scores starting at 5 PM on August 17th and completing the process no later than August 19th.
According to the Ministry of Education and Training's plan, from July 18th to 12 PM on July 30th, candidates can register and adjust their college application preferences an unlimited number of times. Online payment of application fees will take place from July 31st to 5 PM on August 6th.
The virtual filtering process will take place from August 13th to 5 PM on August 17th. After this period, universities may announce the cutoff scores and admission results to candidates.
By 5 PM on August 19th at the latest, universities and colleges must complete the announcement of admission scores and results for the first round of admissions.

Based on the exam score distribution, university representatives predict that the admission cutoff scores for blocks C00, D01, and D96 will increase this year. Meanwhile, the cutoff scores for block B00 may remain stable or decrease slightly compared to last year. The cutoff scores for blocks A00 and A01 may increase, but not significantly.
Some universities have also released initial predictions for this year's admission scores. For example, Hanoi University of Science and Technology predicts a slight increase of 0.75 points in admission scores compared to 2023. Three of the university's programs – Computer Science, Computer Engineering, and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence – may have admission scores above 28. Many other programs are predicted to have scores around 27-28, while some are expected to have scores ranging from 20 to 22.75 points.
Meanwhile, representatives from Hanoi Medical University predict that the cut-off scores for Medical and Dentistry majors may exceed 28, due to a decrease in the number of places allocated solely based on high school graduation exam scores and an increase in the overall score distribution. Besides these two majors, the expected cut-off scores for other majors based on high school graduation exam scores are also higher than last year.
The reason is that this year the school increased the number of admissions based on a combination of high school graduation exam scores and international foreign language certificates. Therefore, the percentage of admissions based solely on high school graduation exam scores is only 60%, about 20% less than last year.
Some experts also predict that the cut-off scores for top universities and top-tier majors within those universities could exceed 25 points. For mid-tier universities, the cut-off scores will range from 20 to 24, while the rest will be between 15 and 20.
As of today (July 29th), more than 230 universities have announced their minimum admission scores based on high school graduation exam results. The minimum scores range from 14 to 24.5 points, with the highest scores in education and medical fields.
Specifically, the Mathematics Education major at Saigon University has the highest minimum admission score nationwide with 24.5 points. Following that are several majors at universities such as: Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Foreign Trade University, University of Science, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City... with a minimum admission score of 24.
In addition to announcing the minimum admission scores, recently, some teacher training universities, after receiving the quota allocation document from the Ministry of Education and Training, also issued notices adjusting their previously announced quotas. For example, at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, many majors reduced their quotas by up to 90% compared to their initial self-determined quotas, such as Physics Education (from 244 to 20 quotas), History Education (from 165 to 31 quotas)...
Similarly, Thai Nguyen University of Education also adjusted its enrollment quotas, with some majors seeing a 50% reduction compared to the initial plan, such as Chemistry Education or Physics Education...
Can Tho University also reduced its enrollment quota from the initial 1,090 to 624, with some majors experiencing significant reductions such as Mathematics Education (from 100 to 31), Physics Education, and Chemistry Education (from 60 to 20)...
The reduction in enrollment quotas for many teacher training programs is expected to impact the admission scores, causing them to remain high.
