Time to announce university benchmark scores in 2024
After the virtual filtering period, universities will announce the benchmark scores starting from 5:00 p.m. on August 17 and will be completed by August 19 at the latest.
According to the plan of the Ministry of Education and Training, from July 18 to 12:00 on July 30, candidates will register and adjust their admission wishes an unlimited number of times. Online payment of admission fees will take place from July 31 to 17:00 on August 6.
The virtual screening process will take place from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 17. After this period, schools can announce the benchmark scores and admission results to candidates.
By 5:00 p.m. on August 19 at the latest, universities and colleges must complete the announcement of benchmark scores and first round of admission results.

Based on the exam score distribution, university representatives predict that the admission scores for groups C00, D01, and D96 will increase this year. Meanwhile, the admission scores for group B00 may stagnate or decrease slightly compared to last year. The admission scores for groups A00 and A01 may increase, but not much.
Some schools also gave initial predictions about the admission scores this year. For example, Hanoi University of Science and Technology predicted that the admission scores for the majors may increase slightly compared to 2023 by 0.75 points. Of which, 3 majors of the school including Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence may have a benchmark score of over 28. Many majors have a benchmark score of around 27 - 28, while there are also majors with a predicted benchmark score ranging from 20 - 22.75 points.
Meanwhile, a representative of Hanoi Medical University predicted that the admission scores for the majors of Medicine and Dentistry could be above 28, as the quota for admission based entirely on high school graduation exam scores has decreased and the average score has increased. In addition to the two majors above, the admission scores for other majors based on high school graduation exam scores are expected to be higher than last year.
The reason is that this year the school increased the admission quota by combining high school graduation exam scores and international language certificates. Therefore, the admission rate based entirely on graduation exam scores is only 60%, about 20% less than last year.
Some experts also said that the benchmark score for top universities and top majors of universities can reach over 25 points. For average top universities, the benchmark score will range from 20 - 24, the rest will have a benchmark score of 15 - 20.
As of today (July 29), more than 230 schools have announced their admission threshold scores based on high school graduation exam scores. The threshold scores of schools range from 14 to 24.5 points, with the highest scores in the fields of education and medicine.
Specifically, the Mathematics Education major of Saigon University has the highest minimum score in the country with 24.5 points. Following are a number of majors of the following universities: Hanoi Medical University, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Law, Foreign Trade University, University of Natural Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University... with a minimum score of 24.
In addition to announcing the floor score, recently, some schools training in the pedagogical sector, after receiving the document assigning the quota from the Ministry of Education and Training, also announced adjustments compared to the previous announcement. For example, at Hanoi Pedagogical University 2, many majors reduced their quota compared to the initial self-determined quota by up to 90% such as Physics Pedagogy (from 244 to 20 quotas), History Pedagogy (from 165 to 31 quotas)...
Similarly, Thai Nguyen University of Education also adjusted its enrollment quota, including some majors reduced by half compared to the plan, such as Chemistry Pedagogy or Physics Pedagogy...
Can Tho University also reduced its quota from the initial 1,090 to 624, in which some majors have decreased sharply such as Mathematics Education (from 100 to 31 quotas), Physics Education, Chemistry Education (from 60 to 20 quotas)...
The reduction in enrollment quotas for many training majors in the pedagogical group is expected to impact the benchmark scores, causing the benchmark scores of this group to continue to remain high./.
