In the golden autumn sunshine, we visited Chinh Vi Temple in Nghi Xuan Commune (Nghi Loc), a national historical relic, associated with the movement to fight for power in the August Revolution (1945). Nghi Xuan Commune's history records the event at Chinh Vi Temple: "On August 15, 1945, the Nghe Tinh Uprising Committee issued an uprising order; on August 25, the district Viet Minh and the general Viet Minh mobilized people to rally at Quan market (Nghi Hoa) to listen to speeches. The people of Song Loc and Tan Hop (ie Nghi Xuan Commune) and the people of the communes rallied in response... On the morning of August 26, the people of Song Loc and Tan Hop came to the district office to seize power. Also on August 26, at Chinh Vi Temple, the people of the villages gathered to rally to seize power. The provisional revolutionary committee was established with Mr. Tran Van Nhi as Chairman and Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tri as Vice Chairman. This was the first unit to seize power in Nghi Loc District".
The uprising to seize power by the people of Song Loc and Tan Hop was the result of the people's arduous struggle and sacrifice, of the solidarity of the entire people, of experience through revolutionary movements led by the Party, of seizing the right situation and opportunity, and quickly seizing power for the people.
Over the past 79 years, the life of Nghi Xuan commune has changed a lot in all aspects, the average income is currently at 63 million VND/person/year, the commune has been recognized as meeting the advanced new rural standards, and is in the process of building a model new rural area. Coming to Nghi Xuan, the most impressive thing is the bustling roads, the spacious houses built close together, giving the village a new look. The commune has 3 major roads passing through, including: Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard, Vinh - Cua Hoi road, Lam riverside road and many branch roads that have been upgraded and expanded. The traffic system has created favorable conditions for the locality in economic trade, expanding production, business and increasing income.
Previously, Nghi Xuan people had only two main occupations: agricultural production and seafood fishing, with a rather unstable source of income. The innovation and integration process has helped people diversify their occupations. In addition to traditional occupations, new occupations have appeared in the fields of industry, services and commerce. Thereby, economic models with high incomes have emerged, creating jobs for workers.
Following Mr. Pham Dinh Hai - Vice Chairman of Nghi Xuan Commune People's Committee, we went to Xuan Tinh Garment Company of Mr. Dao Van Hien in Thien Dong hamlet. The factory has an area of thousands of square meters, with 120 workers and a system of modern machinery and equipment operating day and night, specializing in manufacturing and processing garments for export to the US and European markets. The company's greatest contribution is creating jobs for a large number of local workers with a salary of 7 - 9 million VND/person/month. Along with Xuan Tinh Garment Company, Hoang Nguyen Forestry Processing and Trading Company in Loc My hamlet also creates jobs for dozens of workers with a salary of more than 10 million VND/month, contributing to increasing the income of local people.
Promoting the tradition of the revolutionary homeland and the results achieved in recent years, the cadres and people of Nghi Xuan commune are aiming to build a model new rural area, contributing to promoting the progress and improving the quality of the movement to build advanced new rural areas in the whole province. The appearance of the new rural area is increasingly spacious, truly bright - green - clean - beautiful, the quality of life of the people is improving day by day"

From Nghi Xuan commune, we continued up to Hung Nguyen district and stopped at Long Xa commune, a locality with a vibrant revolutionary movement. According to local history, during the Nghe Tinh Soviet movement, Phu Long people rose up strongly, on September 12, 1930, thousands of people participated in the demonstration in Thai Lao.
During the August General Uprising on August 19, 1945, under the leadership of the Viet Minh Front, people from villages and hamlets flocked to the gathering point, red flags with yellow stars fluttering. The demonstration group from Phu Long commune joined the crowd from the cantons of Hung Nguyen prefecture, marched to occupy the government office, forcing District Chief Nguyen Tien Don to surrender unconditionally.
After many ups and downs, Long Xa village today has become prosperous with asphalt and concrete roads, and spacious houses. The summer-autumn rice fields have turned yellow, promising a bountiful harvest. On the riverbanks, herds of buffalo and cows leisurely graze, adding to the peaceful beauty of a prosperous countryside.
Long Xa commune is currently divided into 8 hamlets with nearly 9,600 people, the main source of income of the people is still from farming and raising livestock, average income. Along with that are some traditional occupations such as making vermicelli, cakes (recognized as a craft village), carpentry, rattan - bamboo - weaving and recently many households doing mechanical work, processing forest products, trading in various types of services... In the first 6 months of 2024, the total production value of Long Xa commune reached 221,039 billion VND (reaching 59.5% of the yearly plan), the economic structure shifted in the right direction, occupations, services, small-scale industry and construction increased rapidly.
As a rural area with a rich cultural tradition, Long Xa commune always pays attention to promoting learning and talent. The whole commune has a total of nearly 2,200 students at all levels, of which over 100 students have achieved the title of excellent students at all levels. Facilities, equipment, and basic teaching aids are fully equipped, and all schools maintain the title of National standards.
Thanks to the advantages of land, soil and convenient transportation, in recent years, all aspects of life in Long Xa commune have improved a lot. Currently, the cadres and people of the whole commune are striving to achieve more achievements in socio-economic development, first of all, striving to achieve the criteria of a new model rural area by 2025 to be worthy of the tradition of the homeland.
