Arrest of subject impersonating state official to defraud and appropriate property

Chu Thi Hang impersonated a government official and posted an article on social media claiming that she could buy a cheap car and then took the buyer's deposit.

On August 22, Bac Giang Provincial Police announced that they had prosecuted Chu Thi Hang (born in 1983), residing in Trinh Nhi village, An Ninh commune, Tien Hai district (Thai Binh) for "Fraudulent appropriation of property", by impersonating a state official to post articles on social networks with the content that it was possible to buy a cheap car and then appropriate the buyer's deposit.

Accordingly, through the work of grasping the situation, the Criminal Police Department of Bac Giang Province Police discovered a suspect who committed the crime of "Fraudulent appropriation of property" by impersonating a state official and posting articles on social networks with the content that he could buy a cheap car and then appropriated the deposit money of the buyer.

Using professional measures, after a period of verification and tracking the subject, on August 15, Bac Giang Provincial Police arrested Chu Thi Hang while she was in Ward 10, Go Vap District, Ho Chi Minh City.

It is known that Chu Thi Hang is unemployed and has a criminal record for "Theft of property".

To have money for personal expenses, Hang posted many articles on social networks such as Zalo and Tiktok impersonating a warehouse manager of the Ho Chi Minh City Customs Department and providing false information about being able to buy a car at a price cheaper than the listed market price.

To build trust with buyers, Hang posts articles about successful car deliveries, gives gifts of gratitude to buyers, and donates charity gifts to schools and charity houses...

From June 2023 until her arrest, using the above tricks, Chu Thi Hang appropriated car deposit money from many people with a total amount of more than 4.6 billion VND.

The Investigation Police Agency of Bac Giang Provincial Police is continuing to investigate and strictly handle the case according to the provisions of law.
