According to RIA Novosti on August 27, the Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, Nikolai Oleshchuk, stated on his Telegram channel that the Russian armed forces had inflicted the heaviest blows on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly in the state's fuel and energy sector.

"On the night of August 26, 2024, Russian forces launched a large-scale combined attack on critical infrastructure in Ukraine, particularly on the state's fuel and energy sector, using missiles of various types—airborne, ground-based, and sea-based"—Kubrano Air Force Commander Oleshchuk stated.

Earlier, on August 26, the Russian military launched a major attack using long-range, high-precision naval and air weapons, tactical-operational aviation of the aerospace forces, and drone strikes on critical energy infrastructure that ensures the operation of Ukraine's military-industrial complex.

The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that, in a major attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, its military targeted power substations, gas compressor stations, and aircraft hangars in 12 regions of the neighboring country.

"The targets of the attack were power substations in the Kyiv, Vinnitsa, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Nikolaev, Kirovograd and Odessa regions," the Russian Ministry of Defense noted.

Russian troops also attacked gas compression stations in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, and Kharkiv regions, which ensure the operation of Ukraine's gas transport system.

In addition, air weapons depots supplied by the West to the Ukrainian Armed Forces at airfields in the Kyiv and Dnepropetrovsk regions were also attacked.

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated: "All designated targets were attacked, resulting in power outages and disruptions to the rail transport of weapons and ammunition to the combat lines."
