Ukraine confirms biggest Russian attack yet
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Oleshchuk said the largest Russian air strike on Ukraine's vital infrastructure.

According to RIA Novosti on August 27, Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force Nikolai Oleshchuk made a statement on his Telegram channel that the Russian armed forces had dealt the heaviest blow to key infrastructure in Ukraine, especially the state's fuel and energy sector.
“On the night of August 26, 2024, Russian forces launched a massive combined attack on key infrastructure facilities in Ukraine, in particular on the state fuel and energy sector, using missiles of various types of air, ground and sea-based weapons,” said Ukrainian Air Force Commander Oleshchuk.
Earlier, on August 26, the Russian military conducted a massive strike with high-precision long-range naval and air weapons, operational-tactical aviation of the aerospace forces and drone strikes on key energy infrastructure facilities that ensure the functioning of Ukraine's military-industrial complex.
In a major attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that troops attacked power transformer stations, gas compressor stations and aircraft hangars in 12 regions of the neighboring country.
“The targets of the attack were power substations in the Kiev, Vinnitsa, Zhytomyr, Khmelnytsky, Dnepropetrovsk, Poltava, Nikolaev, Kirovograd and Odessa regions,” the Russian Defense Ministry noted.
The Russian military also attacked compressor stations in the Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk and Kharkov regions, which ensure the operation of Ukraine's gas transportation system.
In addition, aviation weapons depots transferred by the West to the Armed Forces of Ukraine at airports in the Kiev and Dnepropetrovsk regions were also attacked.
“All designated targets were hit, resulting in a blackout and disruption of rail transport of weapons and ammunition to combat communication lines,” the Russian Defense Ministry said.
