Rice supply in Dong Thap and An Hau Giang is stable, with no price changes, but high-quality rice is scarce. In Lap Vo, Dong Thap, buyers are having difficulty finding high-quality rice due to limited supply and fluctuating prices.
The price of IR 504 rice from the summer-autumn crop increased by 150 VND/kg, fluctuating between 10,750 and 10,900 VND/kg. Finished IR 504 rice is priced at approximately 13,000 - 13,200 VND/kg.
Rice prices at retail markets remain unchanged compared to before, with Nang Nhen rice being the most expensive at 28,000 VND/kg. Other varieties such as Jasmine, Nang Hoa, white rice, and Thai fragrant rice range from 15,000 to 21,000 VND/kg.

In Dong Thap and Hau Giang provinces, the trading of newly harvested rice is slow, and the quality of the harvested rice is not high, with prices varying depending on the variety. In Can Tho, trading of newly harvested rice is also slow, mainly involving immature rice, and the quality of the rice has deteriorated due to the effects of rain.
According to the latest information from the An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, rice prices today remain unchanged compared to yesterday. Specifically:
IR 50404 rice is priced from 7,300 to 7,500 VND/kg.
Dai Thom 8 rice is priced from 8,000 to 8,200 VND/kg.
OM 5451 rice is priced from 7,600 to 7,900 VND/kg.
OM 18 rice is priced from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.
OM 380 rice is priced from 7,600 to 7,800 VND/kg.
Japanese rice is priced from 7,800 to 8,000 VND/kg.
Dried Nàng Nhen rice is priced at 20,000 VND/kg.

The price of Long An IR 4625 glutinous rice (dry) remains unchanged today, still at 9,700 - 9,900 VND/kg. Long An 3-month glutinous rice (dry) also maintains the same price as yesterday, fluctuating between 9,800 - 10,000 VND/kg.
By-products are priced from 5,800 to 8,600 VND/kg. Specifically, the current price of OM 5451 steel sheets is 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg.
The price of dry animal feed has increased slightly, currently at 5,800 - 5,900 VND/kg, 50 VND/kg higher than before.
Rice export prices as of September 24, 2024
According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), Vietnam's export rice prices are currently high, with 100% broken rice priced at $455/ton, standard 5% broken rice at $567/ton, and 25% broken rice at $537/ton.
The Vietnamese rice industry is receiving attention and support from various agencies such as the Government, ministries, and banks, helping to improve policies and finance, and support production and exports.
Despite support, rice exporting businesses still face challenges, particularly in accessing credit, which affects their ability to procure rice, especially during the main harvest season.
Cooperative systems and middlemen play a crucial role in the rice supply chain, from understanding rice varieties to drying and milling to meet standards. Rice exporting businesses are unable to perform some tasks due to limitations in manpower and finances, so supporting middlemen is essential to maintaining the supply chain.
It is projected that in 2025, the Mekong Delta region will cultivate rice on an area of approximately 3.828 million hectares. The expected rice yield is 63.15 quintals/hectare, with an estimated total production of 24.173 million tons, an increase of nearly 40,000 tons compared to 2024.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Nam, Chairman of the Vietnam Food Association, requested the Department of Crop Production to provide detailed information on the rice varieties being planted and the earlier harvesting schedule. The purpose is to support relevant organizations in considering supply and demand, managing exports in a timely manner, and conducting trade activities appropriately. This will help businesses plan their business more effectively and efficiently in the future.
