The new US aid package for Ukraine includes cluster bombs.
Cluster bombs, HIMARS ammunition, artillery, and Javelin missiles are included in the new US military aid package for Kyiv, US State Department chief Antony Blinken announced.
“It – the new aid package – includes additional ammunition and support for HIMARS, 105 mm and 155 mm artillery shells, cluster munitions,” Blinken’s published statement said.
Previously, on August 24, US President Joe Biden announced a new military aid package for Ukraine worth $375 million. At that time, the announcement did not provide details of the new aid package.
Russia argues that supplying weapons to Ukraine hinders the resolution of the situation, directly draws NATO countries into the conflict, and is "playing with fire." Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that any shipment of weapons to Ukraine would become a legitimate target for Russian attack. According to him, the United States and NATO are directly involved in the conflict, not only supplying weapons but also training Ukrainian personnel in the UK, Germany, Italy, and other countries. The Kremlin stated that pumping weapons from the West to Ukraine does not contribute to negotiations and will have a negative impact.
