Determined to finish early in the 2G to 4G conversion program, most recently, Viettel network has decided to support free conversion for all remaining 2G customers; with the motto of not leaving anyone behind.

Following the roadmap of the Ministry of Information and Communications, with many drastic measures, from the beginning of 2024 until now, Viettel Nghe An has successfully converted nearly 99% of customers using 2G, of which nearly 10,000 customers have been supported with free 4G devices.

Although the number of 2G users has dropped below 2%, Viettel's goal of not leaving anyone behind is the reason why the company decided to support free 4G conversion for the remaining subscribers (most of whom are people in difficult circumstances, living in remote areas, areas that have just experienced natural disasters, storms and floods and do not have the conditions to upgrade to 4G).

It is estimated that in this final phase, about 700,000 customers will receive 4G phones from Viettel, with a total cost of nearly 300 billion VND. In Nghe An alone, it is expected that 30,000 more customers will benefit from the free 4G phone support program from Viettel, equivalent to about 12 billion VND.

Holding the new phone she just received from Viettel, Ms. Lo Thi Xin in Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district, Nghe An could not hide her joy when sharing: "My family does not have money to buy a phone, fortunately Viettel gave me a 4G phone to use, I am very excited".

The 4G phone giveaway program is applied from now until October 15 for customers who are using phones with only 2G technology operating on Viettel network and have not been able to switch to 4G. Customers will receive a text message inviting them to visit Viettel stores or contact Viettel staff in the area for support. In particular, elderly customers, people with disabilities, sick people, and those who have difficulty traveling will be supported on-site by Viettel staff.

The free models are 4G phones that meet basic calling needs or phones with additional Cloud phone features that can access OTT applications. For elderly customers, Viettel will provide phones with keyboards, loud volume, voice support when dialing numbers, convenient to use, priced from 390,000 VND to 490,000 VND. In case customers need to use a more advanced smartphone, Viettel still applies a subsidy program depending on the product.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duong - Deputy Head of the Department of Culture of Nghi Loc district assessed: "It can be said that Viettel's free 4G support program at this time is very timely and practical for the people, at the same time, full of humanity and social responsibility; thereby, contributing to accelerating the local 4G conversion process, promoting digital transformation in the district".

Practical and timely, Viettel has received support and high appreciation from the community when it not only meets people's connection needs but also helps the work of overcoming the consequences of natural disasters to be carried out more smoothly and easily. This is also a clear demonstration of the commitment to "leaving no one behind" in the digital transformation journey, stemming from the spirit of mutual support, love for compatriots and from Viettel's vision of "technology from the heart".
