Nearly 40,000 customers in Nghe An province received free 4G devices from Viettel.
Determined to achieve the 2G to 4G transition target ahead of schedule, Viettel recently decided to offer free conversion support to all remaining 2G customers, with the motto of ensuring no one is left behind.
Following the roadmap of the Ministry of Information and Communications, and through various decisive measures, from the beginning of 2024 to the present, Viettel Nghe An has successfully converted nearly 99% of its 2G customers, of which nearly 10,000 customers have been provided with free 4G devices.
Although the number of 2G users has dropped below 2%, Viettel's goal of ensuring no one is left behind is the reason the company decided to support free 4G conversion for the remaining subscribers (mostly people in difficult circumstances, living in remote areas, and areas that have recently experienced natural disasters and floods and do not yet have the means to upgrade to 4G).
It is estimated that in this final phase, Viettel will give away 4G phones to approximately 700,000 customers, with a total cost of nearly 300 billion VND. In Nghe An province alone, an additional 30,000 customers are expected to benefit from Viettel's free 4G phone program, equivalent to about 12 billion VND.
Holding her newly received phone from Viettel, Ms. Lo Thi Xin from Luc Da commune, Con Cuong district, Nghe An province, couldn't hide her joy as she shared: "My family doesn't have money to buy a phone, so luckily Viettel gave me a 4G phone to use. I'm very happy."

The 4G phone giveaway program, valid from now until October 15th, is for customers currently using 2G-only phones on the Viettel network who are not yet able to upgrade to 4G. Customers will receive a text message inviting them to visit Viettel stores or contact Viettel staff in their area for assistance. In particular, elderly customers, people with disabilities, those who are ill, or those with mobility difficulties will receive on-site assistance from Viettel staff.

Free phones are 4G phones that meet basic calling needs, or phones with added Cloud phone features that allow access to OTT applications. For elderly customers, Viettel will provide phones with keypads, loud volume, voice prompts for dialing, and convenient usage, priced from 390,000 VND to 490,000 VND. If customers require a more advanced smartphone, Viettel will still apply a subsidy program depending on the product.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Duong, Deputy Head of the Culture Department of Nghi Loc District, assessed: "It can be said that Viettel's free 4G device support program at this time is very timely and practical for the people, and at the same time, it is full of humanity and social responsibility; thereby contributing to accelerating the transition to 4G in the locality and promoting digital transformation in the district."

Practical and timely, Viettel has received support and high praise from the community for both meeting people's connectivity needs and facilitating disaster relief efforts. This is also clear evidence of its commitment to "leaving no one behind" in the digital transformation journey, stemming from a spirit of mutual support, love for fellow citizens, and Viettel's vision of "technology from the heart."
