Researchers at University College London (UK) have made a groundbreaking discovery in 6G mobile data transmission, achieving speeds of up to 938 gigabits per second (Gbps), 9,000 times faster than current 5G connections.

At this speed, users can download more than 20 high-quality movies per second. Imagine, if you want to watch a newly released blockbuster movie right away, with this speed, a single click will instantly bring the movie to your screen, eliminating the waiting times we have today.

Under the leadership of Professor Zhixin Liu, the research team achieved a spectacular breakthrough by exploiting a completely new, previously unexplored frequency spectrum. By cleverly combining radio waves and light in the 5 GHz to 150 GHz frequency range for data transmission, they have ushered in a new era for data transmission speeds, surpassing all imagined limits.

The research team's success stems from a unique combination of two leading technologies: high-speed electronics and microwave photonics. They utilize ultrafast digital-to-analog converters to generate signals in the 5 GHz - 75 GHz frequency band.

For even higher frequencies, such as the W band (75 GHz - 110 GHz) and the D band (110 GHz - 150 GHz), they combine light-based signals with frequency-locked lasers. The research team has created a completely new mobile communication system that promises to support the next generation of mobile communications.

Professor Liu compared this development to expanding a narrow road into a 10-lane highway. He emphasized, "Just as we need wider roads for more vehicles to travel, we also need greater bandwidth to transmit more data." The professor said his team is currently negotiating with smartphone manufacturers and network providers to bring this technology to consumers as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Japan is leading the technological revolution with groundbreaking advances in 6G. A group of leading telecommunications companies in the country has made a breakthrough by developing equipment capable of transmitting data at breakneck speeds, 20 times faster than current 5G technology. This achievement opens up the possibility of data transmission speeds of up to 100 Gbps within a 100-meter range, promising to revolutionize how we connect and interact with the world around us.

These advancements mark a significant milestone in the development of radio access networks (RANs), opening the door to a new era of ultra-fast mobile speeds exceeding 100 Gbps. As this technology becomes more widely adopted, it will revolutionize our daily lives, from more efficient work and seamless online learning to unprecedentedly immersive entertainment experiences.

In short, 6G technology will be a true revolution in the field of communications. With speeds and performance far superior to 5G, 6G will unlock entirely new possibilities, from transmitting massive amounts of data in an instant to connecting billions of Internet of Things (IoT) devices simultaneously. The future of mobile communication will be faster, smarter, and more responsive to the needs of the digital age.
