According to TASS news agency on October 26, the official representative of the Chinese Embassy in Washington, USA said that China did not try and has no plans to interfere in the US presidential election, and opposes cyber attacks in any form.

Earlier, the New York Times cited sources saying that Chinese hackers were believed to have attempted to illegally access the phones of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and his running mate in the election race, James David Vance.

“We don’t know the specific situation. We can’t comment on it,” a Chinese embassy representative said in response to a request for comment on the report.

According to the representative, China is one of the main victims of cyber attacks. China's stance is consistent and clear. China firmly opposes cyber attacks and theft in all forms and fights against them.

The representative of the Chinese Embassy emphasized that the election is an internal matter of the US and China has no intention of interfering in the US election, and hopes that the US side will not make accusations against China during the election.

In addition, the Chinese Embassy in the US also said: “In recent years, the US has compiled and disseminated a lot of disinformation related to the so-called attack threats from China. These accusations are full of malicious speculation against China. China strongly opposes them.”

Commenting on the statement of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, a representative of the Chinese Embassy said that the US is the origin of most cyberattack perpetrators.

The US government is investigating how hackers believed to be linked to China gained access to telecommunications infrastructure in the US, according to a report by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

“We urge the US to stop cyber espionage and cyber attacks around the world, and stop smearing other countries under the pretext of cyber security,” said a representative of the Chinese Embassy in the US.
