Nghe An province's budget revenue for the first 10 months is estimated at 18,911 billion VND, exceeding the projected target by 18.9% and increasing by 41.2% compared to the same period last year, ranking 17th nationwide and 2nd in the North Central region.

On the morning of October 31st, Comrade Nguyen Duc Trung - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - chaired the regular meeting of the Provincial People's Committee to assess the socio-economic situation in October and the first 10 months of 2024; and to give opinions on matters within its authority.

Among the guests attending the session was Comrade Nguyen Nhu Khoi - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council.

Also attending the meeting were: Bui Thanh An - Member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Bui Dinh Long - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van De - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with members of the Provincial People's Committee and leaders of departments and agencies.

At the meeting, the Provincial People's Committee listened to and commented on the report on the socio-economic situation in October and the first 10 months of the year; and the key tasks and solutions for the last two months of 2024.

Reporting at the meeting, Director of the Department of Planning and Investment Pham Hong Quang stated that in October 2024, all levels and sectors focused on directing and accelerating the completion of tasks for 2024; and urgently addressing the consequences of the floods in some localities at the end of September.

The agricultural, forestry, and fisheries production situation remains basically stable. The industrial production index (IIP) in October is estimated to increase by 11.85%; the cumulative increase for the first 10 months is estimated at 10.81% compared to the same period in 2023.

Goods exports in the first 10 months are estimated at 2,638 million USD, an increase of 32.01%; imports are estimated at over 2,025 million USD, an increase of 82.48% compared to the same period last year.

Budget revenue for the first 10 months is estimated at 18,911 billion VND, exceeding the projected figure by 18.9% and increasing by 41.2% compared to the same period last year, ranking 17th nationwide and 2nd in the North Central region.

Of this, domestic revenue is estimated at 17,529 billion VND, reaching 120.6% of the projected target and increasing by 40.7% compared to the same period last year; revenue from import and export activities is estimated at 1,372 billion VND, reaching 105.6% of the projected target and increasing by 50.2% compared to the same period last year.

To date, the province has granted licenses to 67 new projects with a total registered investment capital of over 19,106 billion VND; and adjusted the total investment capital of 35 projects with a total increase of over 17,212 billion VND. The total newly granted and adjusted capital amounts to over 36,318 billion VND, of which FDI capital reached 751 million USD.

As of October 20th, the total public investment plan for 2024, including extended plans, has disbursed over VND 6,194 billion, reaching 62.44%, higher than the 52.4% disbursed in the same period last year. Five districts, cities, and towns, and 18 project owners have disbursed over 70%.

The cultural and social sectors continued to receive attention and were effectively implemented. In the first 10 months, 44,850 people found employment, achieving 95.42% of the plan.

Administrative reform continues to receive comprehensive attention and guidance. Inspections and corrective measures regarding administrative discipline, order, and public service ethics are carried out regularly.

The provincial plan for reorganizing district and commune-level administrative units for the period 2023-2025 has been approved by the National Assembly Standing Committee. National defense, security, and social order and safety are ensured, and foreign relations activities continue to be implemented effectively.

Besides the achievements, African swine fever is developing complicatedly in some localities after the floods, posing a risk of widespread outbreaks. Many localities, units, and investors are experiencing low disbursement rates of investment capital.

Businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, are still facing difficulties in their production and operations. During the month, 38 businesses voluntarily dissolved, an increase of 80.9% compared to the same period last year; 43 businesses resumed operations, a decrease of 4.4% compared to the same period in 2023.
