Nghe An ensures payment for greenhouse gas emission reduction
On November 11, Nghe An Forest Protection and Development Fund held a working session to discuss issues related to the implementation of the North Central Region Greenhouse Gas Emission Reduction Payment Agreement (ERPA) in Nghe An province.
Attending the meeting were representatives of the Management Board of the Forest Protection and Development Fund of Nghe An province; Department of Agriculture and Rural Development; Fund Control Board and Forest Protection Sub-Department, Forestry Planning Investigation Team, and representatives of forest owners who are organizations and Forest Protection Departments.

Implementing the direction of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Forest Protection and Development Fund, specialized agencies have advised the Provincial People's Committee to issue: Plan to implement payment for greenhouse gas emission reduction in the North Central region ERPA in Nghe An province; Overall financial plan, regulations on forest protection contract level, number of payments, ERPA payment time; Approval of financial plan for forest owners who are organizations; Documents urging and directing agencies and localities in implementing assigned tasks in implementing ERPA in the province.
To date, the Forest Protection and Development Fund has disbursed to 14 forest owners, organizations, and 4 commune People's Committees, with a total amount of VND 62,890 million.

To effectively implement the 2024 ERPA revenue financial plan, all levels and sectors have stepped in and directed strongly to remove difficulties and obstacles. The Forest Protection and Development Fund has proactively and actively advised on related contents and activities to speed up disbursement progress.

At the meeting, representatives of the Forest Protection and Development Fund discussed and answered related issues, and proposed solutions for the coming time focusing on: Area review and payment.Submit to the Provincial People's Committee to adjust the list of beneficiaries according to the proposal of the District People's Committees. Organize payments to forest owners who are households, communities, villages, and hamlets via bank accounts. Continue to organize conferences to propagate, disseminate, and implement ERPA...

In particular, the contents related to some recommendations of the World Bank (WB) working group, that is, Nghe An deploys, guides, inspects, and supervises the implementation of measures to ensure environmental and social safety for activities supported by ERPA resources, recommends measures to minimize risks and accidents during implementation (livelihood support activities, silvicultural works, works implemented from ERPA resources of forest owners who are organizations, ...).
