Hung Nguyen District was recognized as having met the standards for a new rural area in 2023.

The Prime Minister issued Decision No. 1423/QD-TTg dated November 19, 2024, recognizing Hung Nguyen district, Nghe An province, as having met the standards for new rural areas in 2023.

The Prime Minister has assigned the People's Committee of Nghe An province the responsibility to announce and award commendations according to regulations; and directed the People's Committee of Hung Nguyen district to continue maintaining and improving the quality of the criteria, focusing on production and environmental criteria to ensure sustainability in building new rural areas.

After more than 10 years of effort in implementing the National Target Program for building new rural areas with many good, creative, and practical approaches, Hung Nguyen district has completed all the criteria.

All 17/17 communes in the district have met the standards for new rural areas, including 4 communes that have met the standards for advanced new rural areas, 1 commune that has met the standards for model new rural areas, and Hung Nguyen town that has met the standards for civilized urban areas.

The average growth rate of the district in the period 2010-2015 was 9.48%, while in the period 2021-2023 it reached 13.53%; in particular, in 2022 and 2023 it ranked among the top in the entire province.

Average income, which was only 15.9 million VND/person/year in 2010, increased to 52 million VND/person/year in 2023. The poverty rate decreased from 14.9% to 1.49%.

The entire district has invested nearly 4,090 billion VND in building and developing the homeland; of which, the people contributed nearly 1,060 billion VND, accounting for 26.5%.

The district has focused on investing in cultural infrastructure, effectively supporting cultural, artistic, and sports activities. The rural landscape is becoming increasingly attractive, green, clean, and beautiful.

Historical relics and cultural traditions are continuously preserved, promoted, and developed; the quality of education and healthcare is ensured and consistently ranks among the top in the province. Security and order are guaranteed; people enjoy a fulfilling life both materially and spiritually...

To date, Nghe An province has 320 out of 411 communes meeting the new rural standards; 101 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards; 16 communes meeting the model new rural standards; and 10 district-level units completing the task/meeting the new rural standards.

It is estimated that by the end of 2024, the entire province will have 327 out of 411 communes meeting the new rural standards; 127 communes meeting the advanced new rural standards; and 25 model new rural communes.

The entire province has 11 district-level units that have completed the task/met the standards for new rural areas: Vinh City, Thai Hoa town, Nam Dan, Yen Thanh, Nghi Loc, Hoang Mai town, Quynh Luu, Do Luong, Dien Chau, Hung Nguyen and Nghia Dan.
