Authorities dismantled a smuggling ring that brought over 1 ton of fireworks from abroad into Vietnam.
The police have just dismantled a ring involved in importing large quantities of firecrackers from abroad into Vietnam for consumption.
Earlier, at around 4:30 AM on November 22nd, an armed patrol team from the Trieu Son District Police (Thanh Hoa Province), in coordination with the Dan Ly Commune Police, discovered and apprehended Bui Van D. (born in 2010) from Dan Ly Commune while he was transporting 3 boxes of firecrackers (matchsticks) weighing nearly 30kg for sale.
Tracing the origin of the fireworks, authorities issued an arrest warrant for Truong Thi Thao Trang (born in 1993) in Quang Minh commune, Hai Ha district, Quang Ninh province. During a search of Trang's residence, police seized 55 kg of firecrackers.

Continuing their investigation into the case, the Trieu Son District Police arrested Nguyen Thi Hieu (born in 1987), residing in Phu Xuyen District, Hanoi City, for the illegal trade of firecrackers.
During a search of Hieu's residence, authorities seized 120 boxes of firecrackers weighing approximately 1.2 tons.
According to initial investigations, the suspects confessed to colluding to illegally buy and sell firecrackers abroad, then hiring people to transport them into Vietnam via unofficial routes. Afterward, they distributed the firecrackers to various provinces for sale during the Tet holiday.
The Triệu Sơn District Police are currently holding the suspects in custody for further investigation.
