The police have just broken up a ring that bought and sold large quantities of fireworks from abroad to Vietnam.

Previously, at around 4:30 a.m. on November 22, an armed patrol team of Trieu Son District Police (Thanh Hoa Province) coordinated with Dan Ly Commune Police to discover and catch Bui Van D. (born 2010) in Dan Ly Commune transporting 3 boxes of explosive fireworks (matches) weighing nearly 30kg for sale.

Tracing the origin of the fireworks, the authorities issued an emergency arrest warrant for Truong Thi Thao Trang (born in 1993) in Quang Minh commune, Hai Ha district, Quang Ninh province. Searching Trang's residence, the police seized 55kg of match fireworks.

Continuing to expand the investigation of the case, Trieu Son District Police arrested Nguyen Thi Hieu (born in 1987), residing in Phu Xuyen District, Hanoi City, for trading in prohibited goods, namely firecrackers.

Searching Hieu's residence, the authorities seized 120 boxes of firecrackers weighing about 1.2 tons.

Initial investigation results show that the subjects confessed that they had discussed and colluded with each other to illegally buy and sell firecrackers abroad, then hired people to transport them to Vietnam through unofficial channels. After that, the subjects brought the firecrackers to the provinces to sell during Tet.

Currently, Trieu Son District Police are detaining the suspects for further investigation.
