Under manager Amorim, Manchester United are changing their defensive tactics with a three-defender formation, offering hope for the future.

Less than a month after signing with Manchester United, manager Ruben Amorim began building a new defensive system. One of the key changes was the adoption of a three-defender formation, with the addition of Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich. The Moroccan defender, with his versatility playing on both flanks, was tested at right-center-back in his first game under Amorim, alongside Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans.

However, given the current injury situation, Manchester United's defensive lineup will see significant changes. De Ligt, who is in consistent form, is almost certain to be the first-choice center-back. Lisandro Martinez, who has just returned to training, and new signing Leny Yoro, who is recovering from injury, are expected to partner De Ligt in defense. Yoro, with a transfer fee of £52.2 million, is expected to play a crucial role in Amorim's 3-4-3 formation.

Another notable factor is the return of Luke Shaw, after a 280-day absence due to injury. Shaw, who played at left-centre-back against Ipswich, could be an ideal option for Manchester United's three-man central defense, alongside Martinez and De Ligt. However, Shaw's use needs careful consideration to avoid a recurrence of the injury.

With the return of Yoro and Shaw, Manchester United's defense under Amorim will have added depth and flexibility, helping the team to cope with the big challenges ahead.
