Nghe An's import and export turnover reached over 5 billion USD.

That figure was mentioned at the conference summarizing the achievements of 2024 and outlining tasks for 2025, organized by the Nghe An Customs Department this afternoon, December 9th. Attending the conference were: Mr. Tran Duc Hung - Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs; Mr. Nguyen Van De - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; and leaders of the Party Committee of the Provincial Agencies Bloc, and relevant departments and agencies.

In order to facilitate trade and investment activities in the province, increase import and export turnover, and increase revenue for the State budget, the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department has focused on the following tasks: Supervising and managing import and export activities, temporary import and re-export goods, temporary export and re-import goods, and transit goods to ensure strict compliance with regulations; promptly resolving difficulties in customs procedures, creating favorable conditions for import and export activities and investment activities in the province.

Issuing decisions on granting new and renewing inspection locations for goods at factory production facilities; Organizing the dissemination and guidance of policies, regulations, and laws on Customs in the assigned field to organizations and individuals as prescribed through the one-stop service department of the Nghe An Provincial Customs Department; Organizing the Customs-Enterprise Dialogue Conference in 2024.

Coordinate the provision and exchange of information related to the management of import and export businesses in the area with relevant agencies and units; Support businesses operating shipping services and import and export businesses to ensure the effective implementation of Resolution No. 03/2023/NQ-HĐND dated July 7, 2023, of the Provincial People's Council on the policy of supporting shipping companies transporting international and domestic containers, and supporting businesses with export or import goods transported by container to and from Cua Lo port, Nghe An province.

In 2024, 569 businesses participated in customs procedures with a total of 85,414 export and import declarations (including 36,225 import declarations and 49,189 export declarations), an increase of 50.25% compared to 2023. Main export items included: limestone and various types of white limestone powder, steel pipes, steel sheets, processed garments, electronic accessories (headphones, chargers, cables, etc.), automotive wiring harnesses, automotive trim panels, diesel fuel, etc. As a result, by November 30th, the total export and import turnover reached over 5 billion USD (an increase of 59.36% compared to the same period in 2023).

In 2024, the Customs Department directed and guided its units to effectively implement policies on taxes, tax rates, and taxable values, adhering to the correct procedures for consulting and determining taxable values; and ensuring accurate and complete collection and timely remittance to the state budget. As of November 30th, the state budget revenue collected by the Nghe An Customs Department exceeded VND 1,595 billion, reaching 122.72% of the 2024 state budget revenue target (1,327 billion VND, achieving 120.23% of the 2024 target).

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Van De, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of Nghe An Customs' activities in 2024. He stated clearly: 2025 is the final year of the 5-year socio-economic development plan 2021-2025, the Action Program implementing the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress and the 13th National Party Congress. The Nghe An Provincial Customs Department needs to be determined, strive, and make efforts in implementing solutions to improve the investment and business environment, support and develop enterprises; effectively promote and overcome difficulties in production and business, promote growth, and create a favorable environment for economic development.
