Warning about individuals impersonating tax authorities and sending fake invitations.

Recently, some businesses have received fake tax-related invitations.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Thanh, Head of the Song Lam 1 Tax Sub-Department, said that the Sub-Department frequently receives feedback from several businesses in the area regarding invitations from the Sub-Department inviting them to work with the Sub-Department. According to these businesses, the invitations include a notice stating that before attending the meeting, the business owner or enterprise must file their tax returns electronically using the links or websites provided.
Mr. Thanh added: Because businesses regularly connect with the tax authorities, when they receive such invitations, they usually call the Sub-department back to verify, so no consequences have occurred. However, the Sub-department is still seriously warning businesses by sending these fake invitations to tax authority groups and business groups on social media to raise awareness.

This situation also occurs in several other tax branches and even at the General Department of Taxation.
Fraudulent schemes can involve businesses leaking information by entering it into suspicious links or websites, or gradually luring businesses into further schemes based on their anxiety and lack of knowledge (if any).
Some citizens also reported that, even though they had moved to a different location, their tax identification numbers were still being used to file personal income tax returns for some business.
In response to this situation, the Nghe An Provincial Tax Department is announcing the methods used by these fraudsters so that taxpayers can be aware and vigilant, avoiding falling into their traps.
The tax authorities are continuously raising awareness and warning about the practice of impersonating tax officials and tax agencies to defraud taxpayers.
To protect the rights and interests of taxpayers and raise awareness against fraudulent schemes, the Nghe An Provincial Tax Department recommends the following preventive measures:
- Do not provide personal information or bank account details to anyone over the phone or on social media.
- Carefully check all contact information, especially requests for money transfers or information via phone or social media.
- No individual is permitted to directly access their computer or phone to assist with the installation or use of tax authority software.
- Absolutely do not click on any links attached to text messages, Zalo, Facebook, etc., that claim to be representatives of the tax authorities providing guidance on tax procedures.
- Accurately identify information related to the Tax sector: electronic tax service application software, the Tax sector's electronic portal, support phone numbers, etc. Access the official website of the tax authority via the national domain "gdt.gov.vn" to verify the information.
- Access and download the official application via Google Play (for Android devices), Apple Store (for iOS devices), and the Tax Department's website with the domain name gdt.gov.vn or links embedded on the Tax Department's website. Do not download or install the application for smart devices through unofficial links or other instructions.
Mr. Nguyen Vinh Tung, head of the Taxpayer Support and Propaganda Department of the Nghe An Tax Department, stated: The Tax Department does not have a policy of sending tax officials to make phone calls to connect via social media platforms like Zalo, Facebook, etc., or to request assistance in installing tax applications on computers, mobile phones, and other networked devices in order to receive tax reductions, tax refunds, or resolve administrative tax procedures.

The Nghe An Provincial Tax Department provides information on hotline phone numbers, email addresses, other contact methods, and support and guidance locations to promptly address taxpayers' feedback or requests for assistance.
