Thong Thu sub-border gate is allowed to operate goods exchange.
Nghe An Provincial People's Committee has just issued Decision No. 3392/QD-UBND announcing the list of secondary border gates permitted to conduct cross-border trading and exchange of goods in the province.
Accordingly, Thong Thu sub-border gate in Thong Thu commune, Que Phong district is allowed to conduct cross-border trading and exchange of goods in the province.
Goods exchanged and traded through secondary border gates by traders and residents are carried out in accordance with the provisions of Circular No. 01/2018/TT-BCT and Circular No. 02/2018/TT-BCT dated February 27, 2018 of the Minister of Industry and Trade and related regulations.

The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies and units to proactively organize and implement state management of trading and exchange of goods through Thong Thu secondary border gate in accordance with the provisions of law.
The Provincial Customs Department, the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Department of Health, the Department of Transport, the Plant Quarantine Sub-Department of Region VI, the Veterinary Sub-Department of Region III and relevant agencies and units, based on current regulations and assigned functions and tasks, are responsible for ensuring the necessary conditions for the purchase and sale of goods through the Thong Thu secondary border gate to be carried out smoothly and in compliance with current legal regulations.
The Decision takes effect from December 10, 2024.
Thong Thu is a highland border commune of Que Phong district, Nghe An province with more than 33.7 km of border adjacent to Laos. The whole commune has 8 villages with 1,158 households, 5,123 people, most of whom are ethnic minorities. The West borders Vieng Phan village cluster in Xam Tay district, Hua Phan province, Laos. People from the two districts often cross the border to visit relatives, exchange, do business, and trade.
