In 2024, Nghe An province had over 21,000 workers employed abroad under contract. This is one of the important resources and a foundation for Nghe An to expand its high-income labor market in the coming years.

Many changes

Mrs. Tran Thi Tao's family was once considered a disadvantaged household in Thuong Khe 3 hamlet, Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district. Lack of employment, frequent illnesses among her parents, and unstable income made life even more difficult for the family. One of the turning points for her family was access to capital from the Social Policy Bank. After accessing the capital, Mrs. Tao's eldest daughter went to Japan to work. As a nurse, she earned 40 million VND per month. After six months, Mrs. Tao's family paid off their bank loan and had savings to invest in economic development. Following in her sister's footsteps, Mrs. Tao's second and youngest sons also went abroad to work. Today, Mrs. Tao's family has become a relatively well-off household in Hung Tay commune, with a spacious and well-equipped two-story house. Mrs. Tao's eldest daughter has also returned home, started a family, built a house, and accumulated some capital to start a business...

In Thuong Khe 3 hamlet, Hung Tay commune, not only Mrs. Tao but many other households have also seen changes thanks to overseas labor export, with multi-story houses springing up side by side, people's lives improving, and the hamlet no longer having poor households of working age.

In Hung Dao commune, Ms. Vi Thi Noi, a commune policy officer, said: Currently, the entire commune has more than 600 laborers working abroad. Each year, the people of the commune send back approximately 144 billion VND. This money not only helps families have a comfortable and prosperous life but also serves as an important resource for the economic and social development of the commune. The people living away from home are always at the forefront of movements to build rural roads, community cultural centers, and other public works.

Mr. Nguyen Van Hiep, Head of the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Department of Hung Nguyen district, said: "Last year, we collaborated with variousLabor Export Brokerage CenterOur function is to send people to work abroad to explore and expand new markets. Besides traditional markets like Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, last year we expanded to European markets such as Australia, Romania, and Germany… In addition, the district always creates conditions for disadvantaged households to access loans for overseas employment from credit institutions. As a result, the number of workers going abroad for employment is increasing.

Similar to Hung Nguyen district, Thanh Chuong district has a large number of workers participating in the overseas labor market. This foreign exchange has transformed many rural areas. Many families have escaped poverty and become well-off. Mr. Nguyen Van Hoe, Deputy Head of the Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs Department of Thanh Chuong district, said: Currently, Thanh Chuong has more than 1,600 people working in South Korea, Taiwan, and other markets. Workers are very enthusiastic about the government's loan support policies for poor and near-poor households. After only a few years, disadvantaged households in the district have earned income, repaid their debts, and built houses. Therefore, the key to solving employment problems in the district in the coming years is to continue increasing the rate of people participating in overseas labor. In particular, the district will focus on coordinating with agencies that send people abroad for work to expand into more potential markets with high incomes.

Continue to increase the rate of overseas labor export.

"

Of these, Japan accounted for 6,321 people; South Korea 2,389 people; Taiwan 10,625 people; and other markets such as Romania, Singapore, Thailand, and China each had around 200 people.

Besides the traditional labor receiving markets (Taiwan, Japan, South Korea) which remained stable in 2024, the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs continued to expand and develop several labor markets with good income and working conditions in Europe. Currently, the number of workers going to this market is not large, but the working conditions and income are relatively good.

Mr. Tran Phi Hung - Head of Employment and Labor Safety Department, Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs

According to a report by the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2025 the province will continue to implement the plan to create jobs for workers in the province, with the goal of creating jobs for approximately 42,000 to 45,000 workers, including sending about 16,000 to 18,000 workers to work abroad.
