In 2024, overcoming difficulties and challenges, with unity and strong determination, Nghe An achieved many positive and comprehensive results in various fields.

The 15th National Assembly passed Resolution No. 137/2024/QH15 on supplementing pilot mechanisms and specific policies for the development of Nghe An province, comprising 14 policies belonging to 4 groups of fields: State financial and budget management; investment management; urban and forest resource management; and organizational structure and staffing.
The Standing Committee of the National Assembly issued a Resolution on the merger of district and commune-level administrative units in the province during the 2023-2025 period, effective from December 1, 2024 (Cua Lo town merged into Vinh City, Nghe An province, resulting in 20 district-level administrative units; reducing the number of commune-level administrative units by 48, from 460 to 412).
Nghe An province has established a Steering Committee and is implementing the restructuring of the political system's apparatus to be streamlined, effective, and efficient.


The armed forces of Nghe An province and the Nghe An Provincial Police are honored to have been awarded the title of "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the President of Vietnam.


Nghe An's GRDP reached 9.01%, ranking second in the North Central region and third in the North Central and Central Coastal region. State budget revenue is estimated at 24,797 billion VND, reaching 155.9% of the provincial People's Council's assigned target, an increase of 15.3% compared to 2023, marking the third consecutive year exceeding the 20,000 billion VND mark, approaching the target set by the 19th Provincial Party Congress.


Total export turnover reached nearly 3.7 billion USD, exceeding the target set in the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress for the fourth consecutive year. Foreign direct investment (FDI) attracted reached nearly 1.7 billion USD, ranking among the top 10 nationwide for the third consecutive year.


Continuing its strong efforts to improve the investment and business environment, the ranking of several indicators has improved: The Public Administration Reform Index (Par-Index) ranked 15th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, leading the North Central region, an increase of 1 position compared to 2022; the Satisfaction Index of citizens and organizations with the services of state administrative agencies (SIPAS) ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, leading the North Central region, an increase of 2 positions compared to 2022.


The quality of advanced education continues to be affirmed, ranking among the top in the country in terms of the number of students winning national, regional, and international awards (in 2024, there were 6 students winning regional and international medals; ranked 4th nationwide in the National Excellent Student competition with 90 students winning awards; 6 students won regional and international medals...); the quality of comprehensive education has made remarkable progress, with Nghe An ranking 12th nationwide in the 2024 high school graduation exam results, an increase of 10 places compared to 2023.


Many key projects and works have been focused on, completed, and put into use, such as: the Vinh - Cua Lo Boulevard (phase 2), the road connecting National Highway 7C to the Ho Chi Minh Highway (Tan Ky); the coastal road from Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa) to Cua Lo (Nghe An), section Km7+00-Km76+00, has been accelerated. Coordination has ensured the timely completion of key central government projects in the area, such as: the North-South Expressway (Eastern section, Dien Chau - National Highway 46B), the 500kV power line project, circuit 3, section through Nghe An province...


The National Target Program for building new rural areas continues to receive attention and guidance. In 2024, the Prime Minister issued a decision recognizing two more districts, Dien Chau and Hung Nguyen, as having met the standards for new rural areas. To date, the entire province has 11 district-level units that have completed the task and met the standards for new rural areas. The total number of communes meeting the new rural area standards is 327 out of 411; 127 out of 327 communes have met the advanced new rural area standards; and 25 out of 327 communes have achieved the model new rural area standards.


Cultural and social sectors continued to receive attention and development; basic social security policies were ensured; the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2670/QD-UBND dated October 11, 2024, approving the adjustment of the Housing Support Scheme for poor and near-poor households in poor districts under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction giai đoạn 2021-2025, with a total of 6,670 households receiving support for new construction and house repairs, with a total budget of VND 228.47 billion. The entire province created jobs for 48,500 people, achieving 103.19% of the plan, including: sending 20,000 workers abroad under contract, achieving 121.21% of the plan.


External relations activities were implemented synchronously, with many outstanding achievements. Provincial leaders received and worked with many international delegations to further strengthen cooperative relations with strategic partners and expand into new areas of cooperation; successful delegations of provincial leaders were organized to survey and work in many countries to further promote traditional friendly cooperative relations, new partnerships, and open up new markets to attract investment.
