Nghe An: Numbers & Highlights in 2024
In 2024, overcoming difficulties and challenges, with solidarity and high determination, Nghe An has achieved many positive and quite comprehensive results in all fields.

The 15th National Assembly passed Resolution No. 137/2024/QH15 on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Nghe An province, including 14 policies, in 4 groups of fields: State financial and budget management; investment management; urban and forest resource management; organizational structure and staffing.
The National Assembly Standing Committee issued a Resolution on merging district- and commune-level administrative units in the 2023-2025 period in the province, effective from December 1, 2024 (Cua Lo Town merged with Vinh City, Nghe An, with 20 district-level administrative units; reducing 48 commune-level administrative units, from 460 to 412 units).
Nghe An established a Steering Committee and implemented the restructuring of the political system to be streamlined and operate effectively and efficiently.


Nghe An Provincial Armed Forces and Nghe An Provincial Police were honored to be awarded the title "Hero of the People's Armed Forces" by the President.


Nghe An's GRDP reached 9.01%, ranking 2nd in the North Central region, 3rd in the North Central region and the Central Coast. State budget revenue is estimated at 24,797 billion VND, reaching 155.9% of the estimate assigned by the Provincial People's Council, up 15.3% compared to 2023, the third year exceeding the 20,000 billion VND mark, approaching the target of the 19th Provincial Party Congress.


Total export turnover reached nearly 3.7 billion USD, the 4th year exceeding the target of the Resolution of the 19th Provincial Party Congress. FDI attraction reached nearly 1.7 billion USD, the 3rd consecutive year in the top 10 nationwide.


Continuing efforts to strongly improve the investment and business environment, the ranking results of some indexes have improved: The Administrative Reform Index (Par-Index) ranked 15th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, leading the North Central region, up 1 place compared to 2022; The index of satisfaction of people and organizations with the service of state administrative agencies (SIPAS) ranked 12th out of 63 provinces and cities nationwide, ranking 2nd in the North Central region, up 2 places compared to 2022.


The quality of key education continues to be affirmed, ranking among the top in the country in terms of the number of excellent students at national, regional and international levels (in 2024, 6 students won regional and international medals; ranked 4th nationwide in National Excellent Students with 90 students winning prizes; 6 students won regional and international medals...); the quality of comprehensive education has made remarkable progress, in the 2024 high school graduation exam results, Nghe An ranked 12th nationwide, up 10 places compared to 2023.


Many key projects and works were focused on, completed and put into use such as: Vinh - Cua Lo Avenue (phase 2), the road connecting National Highway 7C to Ho Chi Minh Road (Tan Ky); the coastal road from Nghi Son (Thanh Hoa) to Cua Lo (Nghe An) section Km7+00-Km76+00 was accelerated. Coordinated to complete key central projects and works in the area on schedule such as: North - South expressway in the East (section Dien Chau - National Highway 46B), 500kV power line project circuit 3 through Nghe An province...


The National Target Program on New Rural Development continues to receive attention and direction. In 2024, the Prime Minister issued a decision to recognize two more districts, Dien Chau and Hung Nguyen, as meeting new rural standards. To date, the province has 11 district-level units that have completed their tasks and met new rural standards. The total number of communes meeting new rural standards is 327/411 communes; 127/327 communes meeting advanced new rural standards; 25/327 communes meeting model new rural standards.


The fields of culture and society continue to receive attention for development; basic social security policies are guaranteed; the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 2670/QD-UBND dated October 11, 2024 approving the adjustment of the Housing Support Project for poor and near-poor households in poor districts under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021-2025, with a total of 6,670 households supported to build new and repair houses, with a total cost of 228.47 billion VND. The whole province created jobs for 48,500 people, reaching 103.19% of the plan, of which: Sending workers to work abroad under contracts for 20,000 people, reaching 121.21% of the plan.


Foreign affairs activities were carried out synchronously, with many outstanding activities. Provincial leaders received and worked with many international delegations, aiming to further strengthen cooperation with strategic partners and expand new areas of cooperation; Successfully organized delegations of provincial leaders to survey and work in many countries to further promote traditional friendly cooperation relationships, new partners, and open up new markets to attract investment.
