In mid-December, trucks carrying peach blossom trees from various provinces and cities began arriving in Vinh City to serve people celebrating Tet (Lunar New Year). This is the type of ornamental plant that arrives on the market latest.
Clip: QAAccording to our reporter's observations, from January 13th (the 14th day of the 12th lunar month), trucks carrying dozens of peach blossom trees began arriving in Vinh City to serve people celebrating Tet. Among them are many ancient, large-sized peach blossom trees imported from provinces and cities such as Hanoi and Hung Yen... Photo: QAAccording to those who sell peach blossom trees for Tet (Vietnamese Lunar New Year), compared to other ornamental plants like kumquats, pomelos, and apricot blossoms, peach blossom trees are imported the latest. The reason is that this is a specialized ornamental plant; if imported early, the hot weather will cause the flowers to bloom prematurely, reducing their value. Therefore, around mid-December, when sourcing trees from the North, only those with many unopened buds meet the standards for import. (Photo: QA)Mr. Phong, the owner of a peach blossom stall selling Tet (Lunar New Year), said that this year he imported over 300 peach trees, mainly from northern provinces and cities such as Hanoi, Hung Yen, Hai Duong, and Hai Phong... Due to the scarcity of space this year, arranging and displaying the goods in a way that attracts customers to visit and buy peach blossoms is more difficult. The number of trees imported is also less because there is no space to place orders. Photo: QAThe owners of these valuable peach trees are very careful during transportation, because any risk such as broken branches or damaged shape would significantly reduce their value. Photo: QAThe good news is that this year, the imported peach trees have a large number of buds and haven't bloomed much even though it's already mid-December, promising that the trees will burst into bloom just in time for Tet so people can celebrate the Spring Festival. Photo: QAWhile fewer in number, there are still some large, ancient peach blossom trees available, priced at tens of millions of dong. These are known to be old trees, meticulously cared for and shaped. Owning one of these trees requires a high cost, so many people choose to rent them for Tet (Lunar New Year) instead of buying them outright. (Photo: QA)Large peach blossom trees are being offered at prices ranging from 20 to 50 million VND, with rental options being more affordable. Observations indicate that this year's market hasn't seen the massive, uniquely shaped, eye-catching peach blossom trees costing hundreds of millions of VND like in previous years. (Photo: QA)According to the owners of these establishments, the difficult economic situation this year has led to reduced incomes, so sellers are hesitant to import large, oversized peach blossom trees for fear of unsold stock and further losses. Therefore, most of the peach blossom trees on the market today are of average or moderate quality.
