ThaiBinh Seed rice variety has high germination rate and good yield.

In Nghia Dong commune, one of the rice granaries of Tan Ky district, the fields are now covered with rice varieties from ThaiBinh Seed Company, which have just been sown.

According to Mr. Le Quyet Thang, Director of Nghia Dong Cooperative: "In the 2024 Summer-Autumn crop, after implementing a model of high-quality pure rice from ThaiBinh Seed's TBR 97 variety, which yielded high productivity and delicious rice, with seeds and fertilizers supplied by the company, farmers were very enthusiastic. Therefore, this Spring crop, out of a total rice area of ​​over 300 hectares in Nghia Dong commune, more than 100 hectares are planted with TBR 97, a top-tier rice variety from ThaiBinh Seed. In addition, there are other varieties such as VRN 2, QR1, hybrid rice… Currently, the seeds are germinating well with a germination rate of about 99%. Farmers have plowed, harrowed, leveled, removed all weeds, fertilized, adjusted the water level, and sown the seeds."

To date, along with many other localities, Nghia Dong commune has finished sowing rice seedlings, and some areas have been transplanted by farmers. The mild, sunny weather is favorable for seedling growth, and water is being supplied from the Khe Da irrigation dam system. If there is enough water for irrigation, farmers can be confident of a high rice yield.

Speaking about the value of ThaiBinh Seed rice in the 2024 Summer-Autumn crop, Mr. Thang added: "After implementing the TBR 97 ThaiBinh Seed rice model, 1 hectare yielded nearly 6.5 tons/ha, selling dry rice at 10,000 VND/kg, resulting in a profit of 2 million VND per sao (approximately 1000 square meters), while other rice varieties only sold for 8,000 VND/kg. Many families, finding the rice delicious, didn't sell it but kept it for their own consumption. This year, farmers bought ThaiBinh Seed rice seeds at 4,000 VND/kg for production. The cost of seeds for 1 sao (approximately 1000 square meters) was 4 kg, totaling 170,000 VND, plus fertilizer and other supplies costing around 160,000-170,000 VND, and transplanting labor costing 600,000 VND. After deducting expenses, the profit from selling the rice was 2 million VND per sao, which is quite high."

In Nghia Dong commune, the annual rice production needs 4,000 tons to ensure food security. Of this, 2,400 tons must be produced during the Winter-Spring crop season, with the remainder coming from the Summer-Autumn crop. With a population of approximately 10,000 people, having to buy rice for consumption is unsustainable. Therefore, the villagers mainly produce rice for their own use, selling the rest to neighboring communes or to purchasing businesses.

In Hung Tay commune, Hung Nguyen district, ThaiBinh Seed's rice variety is also popular. The Hung Tay Agricultural Service Cooperative has completed trials in previous seasons, and the results have shown good results, so this year the commune plans to sow more than 180 hectares of TBR 97 rice. Currently, farmers are preparing the seeds.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Yen, an agricultural official in Hung Tay commune, said: "The ThaiBinh Seed rice variety has the characteristics of upright leaves, compact base, good panicle emergence, and high field purity. The rice plants tiller densely, are of medium height and sturdy, and have good resistance to pests and diseases, as well as lodging. In addition, TBR97 rice has a high percentage of whole grains, soft rice, and a rich flavor, so it is 'favored' by producers. The rice produced is completely purchased by Manh Cuong Co., Ltd."

In Yen Thanh district, many communes are producing ThaiBinh Seed rice varieties such as TBR225, TBR87, and TBR97. Mr. Nguyen Tho Trang, Director of Nam Thanh Cooperative, said that in the Spring 2024 crop, the commune cultivated over 39 hectares of TBR 225 rice, achieving a high yield of about 72 quintals/hectare. The milled rice is delicious and sticky. Therefore, in the Spring 2025 crop, based on farmers' registrations, the cooperative will plant over 120 hectares of TBR 225 rice out of a total of 267 hectares of rice land in the commune. After production, if there is good quality rice, the affiliated company will purchase it all.

ThaiBinh Seed's TBR97, TBR 87, TBR 88, and TBR 225 rice varieties possess many outstanding characteristics, being the shortest-growing varieties among those currently cultivated in Thai Binh province and many other provinces and cities. These varieties, supplied by ThaiBinh Seed Company, allow for early harvesting to facilitate the planting of winter crops. These rice varieties have been successfully grown in many arid regions across the country while still yielding high productivity.

For the Spring crop of 2025, Nghe An province aims to achieve a production of approximately 1,200,000 tons. However, the Summer-Autumn crop of 2025 faces numerous challenges related to water resources, late-season flooding, pests and diseases, and low yields. Therefore, the Spring crop of 2025 must strive to achieve 708,800 tons of food. Specifically: 90,500 hectares of rice, yielding 624,650 tons; 108,800 hectares of corn, yielding 708,800 tons; and other short-term crops such as peanuts, sweet potatoes, and various vegetables… Therefore, the structure of rice varieties is crucial, partly determining yield and production, as well as product output.

At the Spring crop production implementation conference, Mr. Nguyen Van De, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the entire political system to implement comprehensive solutions to achieve the highest production efficiency. This included unifying the planting schedule for the Spring crop, with mass rice seedling sowing from January 2nd to 15th, 2025, and covering 100% of the seedling area with plastic sheeting. Priority was given to developing and expanding the area of ​​high-quality rice varieties for commercial purposes to improve production efficiency; encouraging the implementation of high-tech agricultural production models; and focusing on expanding the area of ​​low-emission rice production, aiming for sustainable production and carbon credit creation. Priority was also given to businesses and individuals to participate in production and product consumption linkages for farmers...

Like other high-quality rice varieties in Nghe An, the ThaiBinh Seed rice variety, produced under a contract farming arrangement, will be entirely purchased by the enterprise.
