Chelsea sets a high price for Christopher Nkunku, refusing to compromise with Bayern Munich.
Chelsea have set a price tag of £65 million for any team interested in signing the French striker.
The latest developments suggest that the two teams are in contact with each other, not only regarding Nkunku, but also concerning Mathys Tel of Bayern.
Chelsea have officially opened the door for Nkunku to leave this summer, however, they insist there will be no compromises on price. The Stamford Bridge club wants the full £65 million for the transfer and will not accept any deals including add-ons. It is understood that Chelsea spent over €60 million (£50 million) to secure Nkunku's signature from RB Leipzig in 2023, and the player still has over four years remaining on his contract.
Despite not being a regular starter for Chelsea, Nkunku is still considered a promising player with versatile attacking abilities and extensive experience. He is only 27 years old and already a successful French international. During his time at RB Leipzig, Nkunku scored 69 goals and provided 53 assists in 171 appearances. At Chelsea, despite only starting three Premier League games this season, he has still managed to contribute 13 goals across all competitions, sharing the top scorer spot with Cole Palmer, although 11 of those were scored in cup competitions.
Nkunku has also expressed dissatisfaction with not getting regular playing time in the Premier League, and this is one of the reasons he wants to leave in order to secure a place in the French national team for the World Cup in North America next year, should they qualify. Chelsea's high asking price for Nkunku shows that they still believe in the player's value and will not accept any other favorable deal, and it will be a major challenge for Bayern if they truly want to acquire the French player.
