The Nine-compartment Temple in Chau Kim Commune is a prominent destination that has been recognized as a National Historical and Cultural Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The temple is closely associated with the formation of Muong villages of the Thai ethnic group in the Northwest of Nghe An in general and Que Phong district in particular. Associated with the relic is the Nine-compartment Temple Festival, held every three years, from the 14th to the 16th of the second lunar month every year. The Nine-compartment Temple Festival was recognized as a national intangible cultural heritage in 2016.

The festival is not only notable for its solemn rituals, demonstrating the spiritual and cultural elements typical of the Thai people, but also attracts visitors with many folk games and unique cultural and sports activities such as tug of war, crossbow shooting, throwing balls, stilt walking, carving competitions, gongs, etc. In addition, there are also traditional costume competitions, writing Thai Lai Tay script and enjoying unique cuisine.
In Chau Kim commune, visitors can experience unique community tourism in Co Muong village, weaving, spinning silk, working with locals and participating in activities such as bamboo dancing, carving, or enjoying typical rice wine. Visitors can also visit Nhat Minh Farmstay at the top of Bu Chong Cha slope, Chau Thon commune. This is a farm combined with a resort with outdoor space, artificial lake, flower garden, and surrounded by natural forest, ancient trees, and cool green grass, likened to a miniature Da Lat in Western Nghe An.

After exploring the above points, from the district center, visitors can travel 7km along National Highway 48, turn left to reach Sao Va waterfall, which is over 20m high, pouring into a clear blue lake, surrounded by primeval forests with rich flora. Then, visitors continue to explore the Le Gia Trang experience area, in Na Chang village, Tien Phong commune, where there are bathing streams, fishing, unique cuisine and attractive check-in spots. Next, you can visit the ancient Thai village in Hua Muong village, Hanh Dich commune, where 100% of the Thai ethnic people live.

After experiencing with the locals in the ancient Thai village, the next day visitors can continue their journey to explore the Seven-Tier Waterfall complex, starting from the end of Hua Muong village, stretching about 15km with 7 large waterfalls and dozens of small waterfalls. Each floor falls from a height of dozens of meters, creating beaches of dozens of square meters. Visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the cool, clear water and immerse themselves in the majestic primeval forest, keeping its pristine beauty.
Among the three core areas of the Western Nghe An World Biosphere Reserve, Pu Hoat Nature Reserve covers an area of over 85,000 hectares, located in 9 communes of Que Phong district. Here, visitors can explore the primeval forest preserved for hundreds of years, admire the wild landscape with rare animals and plants. In addition, visitors also have the opportunity to participate in adventure tours to climb Pu Hoat mountain at 2,400m high and visit the population of giant Phay Horn and Samu Dau trees, recognized as a population of Vietnam Heritage trees in 2016.

From the primeval forests, visitors can join a tour to explore the Hua Na Hydropower Reservoir, which spans across Dong Van and Thong Thu communes. Here, visitors can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery by boat on the lake surface of more than 21km2, but you can also fish, explore the islands formed from the flooding process...

After 4 years of implementing the Project on developing eco-tourism and community tourism associated with preserving and promoting national cultural identity, Que Phong district has achieved remarkable results. In 2024, it is estimated to attract more than 13,000 visitors. Total revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 5-6 billion VND. The goal by 2030 is that the district strives to attract 15,000-20,000 domestic visitors/year, revenue from tourism activities is estimated at 18-20 billion VND/year and create jobs for 150 rural workers.
