Over $250 million in remittances sent to Nghe An's rice-growing district.
Yen Thanh district consistently ranks among the top localities in Nghe An province in terms of the number of workers employed abroad, with 22,000 people. In 2024, the total remittances from overseas workers in the district reached 250 million USD.

Yen Thanh district is not only the rice granary of Nghe An province, but is also known for its strong potential in labor export.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, Vice Chairman of the Yen Thanh District People's Committee, remittances to the district in 2024 are estimated to reach 250 million USD, an increase of approximately 2 million USD compared to 2023. This amount accounts for nearly 50% of the district's total production value for the year. Of this, remittances sent during the Lunar New Year (Year of the Snake) are estimated at around 15 million USD.
The reason for the increase in remittances in 2024 compared to the previous year is due to the increase in the number of migrant workers. Currently, the entire district has 22,000 young people working abroad.
Among them are many workers in European countries who earn very good incomes and send a significant amount of remittances back to their homeland every year, especially during the Lunar New Year.
Besides localities with a long tradition of sending workers abroad such as Son Thanh, Vien Thanh, Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh, and Do Thanh, in recent years, more communes have joined the ranks: Ma Thanh, Tien Thanh, Lang Thanh, etc.
Thanks to income from overseas employment, people in these localities have increased their income.

According to information from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2024, the province sent more than 21,000 workers to work abroad, achieving over 124% of the plan, continuing to be one of the leading provinces nationwide in the number of workers going abroad. The main receiving markets for workers remain Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and European countries such as Australia, Romania, and Singapore...
By 2025, the province expects to send approximately 16,000 to 18,000 workers to work abroad.
