Yen Thanh district is not only the rice granary of Nghe An, but also known as a locality with strong labor export potential.

According to information from Mr. Nguyen Van Duong - Vice Chairman of Yen Thanh District People's Committee, in 2024, the amount of remittances sent to this locality is estimated to reach 250 million USD, an increase of about 2 million USD compared to 2023. This amount of remittances accounts for nearly 50% of the district's production value for the whole year. Of which, the amount of remittances sent during the Lunar New Year is estimated at about 15 million USD.

The reason for the increase in remittances in 2024 compared to the previous year is due to the increase in the number of exported workers. Currently, the whole district has 22,000 children working abroad.

Among them, there are many workers in European countries, with very good incomes, who send a significant amount of remittances back home every year, especially during the Lunar New Year.

In addition to the localities with a long tradition of exporting labor such as Son Thanh, Vien Thanh, Hong Thanh, Phu Thanh, Do Thanh, in recent years there have been additional communes: Ma Thanh, Tien Thanh, Lang Thanh...

With income from labor export, local people increase their income.

According to information from the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in 2024, the whole province will send more than 21,000 workers to work abroad, reaching over 124% of the plan, continuing to be one of the leading provinces nationwide in the number of exported workers. The main labor receiving markets are still Japan, Taiwan, Korea and markets of European countries such as: Australia, Romania, Singapore...

By 2025, the province plans to send about 16,000 to 18,000 workers to work abroad./.
