Marcus Rashford has officially joined Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United, ending a period of instability at Old Trafford.

The England striker will stay at Aston Villa until the end of the season, with the Birmingham club having the option to buy him permanently for £40m in the summer. Aston Villa will cover the majority of Rashford's wages during the loan period, with the possibility of up to 90% increase based on his performance.

After completing the deal, Rashford shared his feelings on social media: “I would like to thank Manchester United and Aston Villa for making this loan move possible. I was lucky enough to have interest from a few clubs, but Aston Villa was the obvious choice. I have admired the way Aston Villa have played this season, they are a team with great ambition and a fantastic manager. I want to play and I can’t wait to get started. I wish everyone at Manchester United all the best.”

Aston Villa also released a brief statement on Rashford's signing: "Aston Villa are delighted to announce the loan signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United. The England international, who has 60 international caps, will join Aston Villa on loan until the end of the season."

Rashford becomes Aston Villa's third signing of the January transfer window, following Donyell Malen and Andres Garcia. The move ends a turbulent period for the 27-year-old, who has struggled for form under manager Ruben Amorim. After making his debut in 2016 under Louis van Gaal, Rashford scored on his Amorim debut in November against Ipswich Town, but did not play a single minute in the next 12 games. The move to Aston Villa is seen as a great opportunity for Rashford to rediscover his form for the rest of the season.
