Tyrell Malacia's loan move from Man United to Benfica has officially fallen through, leaving the Dutch defender's future uncertain.
Benfica and Man United were unable to reach an agreement on the loan fee and buy-out clause, preventing the deal from being completed.
Malacia is now facing a dilemma after saying goodbye to his teammates. Manchester United are urgently considering options to resolve this situation before the 2025 winter transfer window closes. Several teams are still expressing interest in Malacia, with Betis and Celtic being among those hoping to sign the player.
Tyrell Malacia has been unlucky at Man United, plagued by injuries and making only 47 appearances for the club since 2022. Despite his contract running until the summer of 2026, manager Ruben Amorim seems to have lost faith in him. He joined Man United from Feyenoord in 2022 for £13 million, having been a key player alongside Erik ten Hag in the 2022/23 season. However, he has consistently struggled with fitness issues and was sidelined for 17 months with a knee injury before returning last November.
Along with finding a new club for Malacia, Manchester United are also looking for a replacement. Sources from Caught Offside indicate that Amorim wants to sign Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri. The 23-year-old has a contract with Wolves until the end of the 2025/26 season and is estimated to be worth around £30 million, although the chances of MU acquiring him remain very slim, as they risk losing him for free if Wolves do not agree to MU's offer.
