Restoration of nearly 620 pages of Sino-Vietnamese documents about Cờn Temple.

At the upcoming Cờn Temple Festival in 2025, in addition to traditional activities, a noteworthy and significant event will be the ceremony for the handover of restored Hán Nôm documents about Cờn Temple.

According to representatives of the Hoang Mai town leadership, in recent years, the town's People's Committee has directed the collection of documents on...Cờn Templeaiming to contribute to promoting the cultural identity of the most sacred temple in the coastal region of Nghe An province.

In 2023, the town digitized the Han Nom documents of the Cờn Temple. In 2024, the Town People's Committee continued to cooperate with the Nghe An Provincial Museum and the Heritage Conservation Technology and Engineering Company to restore the original documents currently stored at the Nghe An Museum, and to restore documents for worship at the temple. The restoration process was carried out meticulously, carefully, and rigorously by experts, from the processing of traditional paper and ink to the reconstruction of the characters.

The total number of restored documents comprises 617 pages, including 496 pages of royal decrees from the Le Trung Hung, Tay Son, and Nguyen dynasties bestowing honorary titles upon the deity, from 1629 to 1850; 77 pages of official orders; 8 pages of family decrees; 2 pages of proclamations from the Trinh lords granting the people of Phuong Can the status of "establishment residents," exempting them from taxes, corvée labor, and other miscellaneous services, and instructing them to oversee the renovation of the Corn Temple and providing offerings for the temple; 20 pages of reports from the local government to the court regarding the establishment of the establishment of the deity; and 14 pages of historical accounts recording the origin and miraculous powers of the deity.

The restoration of Sino-Vietnamese documents for worship at the historical site not only has scientific significance but also holds great spiritual and religious value. This is an important activity contributing to the preservation and promotion of the tangible and intangible cultural values ​​of the Cờn Temple historical site in Quỳnh Phương ward, Hoàng Mai town, Nghệ An province.

This year's Cờn Temple Festival takes place from February 16th to 18th, which is the 19th to 21st day of the first lunar month of the Year of the Snake (Ất Tỵ).
