Through investigation, the police agency determined that the fraudulent appropriation of property was used by the subjects in the form of the app “Love” called the app “2.1”. At the same time, they bought a link to lead to a website called “Casino Bay Sands” to serve the fraudulent appropriation of property.

On the afternoon of February 17, the Investigation Police Agency of Tay Ninh Province said that they are searching for victims of a criminal gang that defrauded and appropriated more than 500 billion VND on cyberspace in Cambodia.

Previously, the police agency arrested 24 subjects to investigate and clarify the fraud. These subjects are among 177 Vietnamese people involved in fraud and property appropriation on the internet, who were just returned to Vietnam by Cambodian authorities on February 6.

Through investigation, the police agency determined that the fraudulent appropriation of assets was used by the subjects in the form of the "Love" app, abbreviated as the "2.1" app. At the same time, they bought links to lead to a website called "Casino Bay Sands" to serve the fraudulent appropriation of assets. The fraudulent company was run by Chinese subjects as Directors and managed by employees, was tightly organized, established many groups and assigned specific roles and tasks to each department and member.

According to the assigned scenario, Vietnamese employees were assigned the task of "scraping customers" (entrepreneurs to place bets, invest); "killing customers" (customers with no more finances will close their accounts, erase traces)... The victims were mainly Vietnamese. Working with 24 subjects, the investigation agency initially determined that 5/20 accounts used for fraud had an amount of more than 500 billion VND; identified 3 fraudulent "employees" who had committed the act of appropriating a total amount of nearly 6 billion VND; 6 victims reported that more than 35 billion VND had been appropriated.

Currently, the Criminal Police Department of Tay Ninh Province Police is continuing to coordinate with the Criminal Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) and Cambodian authorities to investigate and arrest related subjects for handling according to the provisions of law. Anyone who is a victim of the above-mentioned crime is requested to contact and provide information to the Criminal Police Department of Tay Ninh Province Police (Tel: 02763.822.001) for guidance on how to handle the case.
