Suspect arrested for fatally stabbing riot police officer.
When summoned to the police station for drug testing, Duong Huu Tri refused to comply, instead setting fire to the police vehicle before barricading himself inside his house. He then fatally stabbed a riot police officer who was attempting to subdue him.
The Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police announced this afternoon (March 3) that they have arrested Duong Huu Tri (also known as "Ty Heo", 38 years old, residing in Ward 7, Vung Tau City) to investigate his involvement in murder and resisting arrest.
According to initial investigations, at approximately 7:35 this morning, a task force from the Police Station of Ward 7, Vung Tau City, arrived at the home of Duong Huu Tri to invite him to the station for a drug test. At this time, Tri refused to comply, instead using a knife to chase and attack the task force, then setting fire to their motorcycle.

Upon receiving the report, the criminal investigation team in charge of the Vung Tau City area (PC02 Department, Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police) assigned forces to coordinate with professional units of the Provincial Police, the Mobile Police, and the Police of Ward 7 to persuade Tri, but he refused to comply.
During the process of subduing the suspect, Tri unexpectedly rushed out of the house and stabbed officer Nguyen Ngoc Minh N. (24 years old, riot police) once in the right side of his chest, causing serious injury to the officer.

Immediately afterwards, the task force took soldier N. to the hospital for emergency treatment. At approximately 1:30 PM on the same day, soldier N. passed away.
As for Tri, he was apprehended and taken to the police station for questioning by the criminal investigation force.
Currently, PC02 is coordinating with the Procuratorate and other professional units to examine the crime scene and investigate the case.
