Multipurpose Chapter Chairman

In early March, the atmosphere in Hamlet 3, Lang Son Commune, Anh Son District, became more vibrant as the villagers began harvesting cassava. Located next to the road passing through the center of the hamlet, the cassava fields of Mr. Vo Van Son (born in 1980) and Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen (born in 1982) yielded a bountiful harvest this year, bringing joy to the couple.

Taking a break after finishing her work, Ms. Huyen said that she received a loan from the group.Savings and loans from the neighborhoodWith that, she and her family gained more support to develop their production. Knowing how to use capital effectively, she and her family now have more than 1 hectare of cassava and vegetable crops, along with a herd of nearly 20 pigs, cows, and goats that are thriving. Thanks to this, the family's economy is becoming increasingly stable, not only escaping poverty but also becoming a well-off household in the village.

Behind that success, Ms. Huyen expresses her sincere gratitude to the person who supported her throughout the process of borrowing capital and developing production, namely the Head of the Women's Association of Hamlet 3 - Tran Thi Hoai An.

Even more gratifying is that in 2023, Ms. Tran Thi Hoai An (born in 1987) was commended and awarded as an outstanding and exemplary leader of the savings and loan group in Lang Son commune. Under her leadership, the loan group has helped 31 members access preferential loans with a total outstanding balance of over 2 billion VND.

Ms. An shared that throughout her more than 7 years as the Head of the Women's Association and the head of the loan group, she has always reminded herself to research and thoroughly understand the documents to guide people through the loan application process. At the same time, she closely monitors each borrowing household to advise them on how to use the capital effectively. For families in difficult circumstances, borrowing capital is not only an opportunity but also a challenge. Therefore, she always encourages them to boldly change their production mindset, invest in livestock, and equip themselves with machinery and equipment.

"

With the close guidance of Ms. Tran Thi Hoai An, the capital was used effectively, helping to improve the lives of the people, and the number of households escaping poverty in Hamlet 3 increased significantly.

Five years ago, the poverty rate in the hamlet was still over 20%, but now it has decreased to only 1.7%, and the lives of the people have improved significantly.

Adding to the story, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong – President of the Women's Union of Lang Son commune – said that in addition to playing a key role in the loan group, Ms. An is also known as a "multi-talented" women's association branch leader, capable of successfully handling roles in cultural and sports activities, and legal awareness campaigns in the hamlet.

Anyone who followed the 2023 Anh Son District's Outstanding Grassroots Mediator Competition will surely remember the role of "judicial officer" played by Ms. Tran Thi Hoai An. In that competition, Ms. An and her team members participated in answering questions, performing artistic acts, and acting out short plays. Ultimately, her team won third place in the entire district.

Recognizing Ms. An's efforts, in 2025, she was honored by the Anh Son District Women's Union as an outstanding individual at the district level. Prior to that, in 2021, she was also recognized and commended by the Lang Son Commune People's Committee for her positive contributions to the Women's Union and women's movement. Her positive contributions have instilled confidence and motivation in local women to strive for self-reliance and take control of their lives.

Spreading the value of local specialties.

This season in the Đá Mài area (Hamlet 1, Khai Sơn Commune, Anh Sơn District), more than 500 of the special Sen mandarin orange trees belonging to Ms. Bùi Thị Bình's family (born in 1960) are in full bloom. Because of the delicious sweetness of the oranges, traders in the area often come to buy them directly from the orchard.

Gently cradling the ripe oranges, Ms. Binh shared: “Previously, Da Mai hill was just a barren area. After 1988, my family began clearing and improving the land to plant oranges, tea, and bamboo shoots. Initially, the area was small due to limited family capital. But after many years of dedication, realizing the increasing value of orange trees, my husband and I decided to focus on expanding the area. To date, the orchard has more than 700 trees, of which 500 are currently producing fruit and 200 are newly planted.”

Thanks to the application of advanced cultivation techniques and organic farming methods, minimizing the use of pesticides, the trees bear abundant fruit, are free from pests and diseases, and produce large, uniform, and attractive fruits that are popular in the market.

To reach customers faster, she leverages social media, choosing prime time slots for live streaming sales. As a result, each season, 10-12 tons of oranges are sold out quickly, bringing in 300-350 million VND per year after deducting expenses.

Not only has she focused on developing her own family's economy, but Ms. Binh also actively supports local people. She readily shares her orange cultivation techniques, provides guidance on pest and disease control, and connects them with markets for their produce. Many women in the area have learned from her experience to expand their cultivation of Sen oranges, helping to increase their income and create a shared brand for Khai Son agricultural products.

Thanks to these practical contributions, for many years in a row, her family has been commended by the Anh Son District People's Committee as an outstanding household in production and business in the locality.

Recalling the early days of hardship, Ms. Bui Thi Binh shared: "At that time, both my husband and I were farm workers. When we decided to come to Da Mai hill to reclaim land, we didn't have much in our hands. But with the thought of escaping poverty, we stayed, trying to accumulate knowledge and learn techniques to develop the model."

Looking back on the journey so far, I've always encouraged the women in my neighborhood that women shouldn't just focus on cooking and raising children, but should strive to be economically successful, rise up, and assert their value in the family and society."

"

"In 2025, the Women's Union of the district commended 22 individuals, who are outstanding women's branch leaders and deputy branch leaders, for their excellent achievements in implementing the patriotic emulation movement during the 2020-2025 period."

In addition, throughout the district, there are many women who are exemplary producers and entrepreneurs, striving to improve their economic situation, preserve traditional cultural values, and actively participate in community activities.

They are shining examples in labor and production, making important contributions to the overall development of the locality and affirming the role of women in all aspects of life today.
