Coffee prices surged to a record high of VND135,000 per kilogram on March 5. The main reason was the news that coffee inventories in Brazil had dropped to a record low, causing concerns about supply. However, in the following days, coffee prices fell sharply when positive weather news appeared. Both Brazil and Vietnam recorded rain, helping to ease concerns about global supply.

World coffee prices today

Despite market fluctuations, world coffee prices still recorded a slight increase compared to last week.

The volatility of the US dollar over the past week has impacted the coffee market. The Brazilian real gained 2.6% against the US dollar in the first week of March, helping to support international coffee prices.

As Brazil’s Carnival holiday comes to an end, production and exports are expected to pick up in the country, which could impact global coffee supplies in the coming months.
