According to RIA Novosti on March 15, Vladimir Rogov - Chairman of the Social Work Committee on Sovereignty Issues, Chairman of the Coordination Council on the Integration of New Regions of Russia, said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reached a dead end with the rescue of the group of Ukrainian Armed Forces surrounded in the Kursk region. Any decision will be a failure for Mr. Zelensky.

"With his decision, the Russian President has pushed himZelensky"We are in a dead end. If Zelensky does not order the surrender, he will be accused of killing thousands of militants. Ordering the surrender would mean admitting defeat, it would be the beginning of a surrender. Zelensky is basically in a dead end, where any action would be a defeat for him," Rogov told RIA Novosti.

Mr. Rogov believes that for the Zelensky administration, the countdown has begun not only on the Kursk front, but in general “that is why he is in such a hurry, that is why he is in such a panic and is ready for any ceasefire and other things.” The defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region is certainly affecting the morale of the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers.

On March 14, US President Donald Trump said he had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to “spare the completely surrounded Ukrainian forces” in the Kursk region. In response, President Putin said he understood Trump’s call to adhere to humanitarian principles regarding the Ukrainian military.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakhov clarified that if the blockaded Ukrainian troops lay down their arms, their lives and decent treatment will be guaranteed.

Earlier, on March 13, President Putin held a meeting at one of the command posts in Kursk. Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, reported to the president on the offensive operations, the Russian Armed Forces liberated more than 1,100km2territory in the Kursk border region, that is, more than 86% of the area formerly occupied by Ukraine. General Gerasimov said that the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Kursk border region exceeded 67,000 people.
