According to RIA Novosti on March 15, Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the Committee on Social Work for Sovereign Affairs and Chairman of the Coordinating Council for the Integration of New Regions of Russia, stated that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has reached a dead end in his efforts to rescue the besieged Ukrainian armed forces in the Kursk region. Any decision would be a failure for Zelensky.

"With his decision, the Russian president has pushed him."Zelensky"He's in a dead end. If Zelensky doesn't order a surrender, he'll be accused of killing thousands of fighters. Ordering a surrender means admitting defeat, which would be the beginning of a surrender. Zelensky is essentially in a corner, where any action would be a failure for him," Rogov told RIA Novosti.

Mr. Rogov believes that, for President Zelensky's administration, the countdown began not only on the Kursk front, but generally “that is why he is in such a hurry, that is why he is so panicked and he is ready for any ceasefire and other things.” The defeat of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region is certainly affecting the morale of the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers.

On March 14, US President Donald Trump said he had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to “spare the Ukrainian forces who are completely surrounded” in the Kursk region. In response, President Putin said he understood Trump’s call to adhere to humanitarian principles regarding the Ukrainian military.

Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakhov clarified that if the besieged Ukrainian troops lay down their weapons, their lives and humane treatment would be guaranteed.

Earlier, on March 13, President Putin held a meeting at one of the command centers in Kursk. The Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces, General Valery Gerasimov, reported to the president on the offensive operations, stating that the Russian Armed Forces had liberated more than 1,100 km.2The territory in the Kursk border region, which is more than 86% of the area previously occupied by Ukraine, has been affected. General Gerasimov stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have suffered losses exceeding 67,000 people in the Kursk border region.
