Shops and restaurants are bustling with renovations.

Since its merger with Vinh City, Cua Lo beach town has not only received significant attention in infrastructure development, but preparations for the tourist season have also undergone considerable changes. These changes are becoming clearly visible on the streets, from the renovation of kiosks and shops to services catering to tourists.

Along the streets in Nghi Huong, Nghi Thu, Nghi Hoa wards, etc., it's easy to spot restaurant and eatery owners busy renovating and refreshing their premises at this time of year.

Mr. Nguyen Van Son, residing in Nghi Huong ward, said: "This year's tourist season is very special as it's the first year that Cua Lo beach has been merged into Vinh City... I hired construction workers to renovate the restaurant's facade and replace all the signs and lighting systems to create a bright space and clean walkways to attract tourists. The total investment cost is about 50 million VND. This is a significant investment, but I believe it will yield worthwhile results this tourist season."

To ensure a cool and clean environment, this year, restaurant owners have focused on renovating the architectural structure and refreshing decorative materials, from floors to windows and doors. Some eateries and restaurants have also invested in additional outdoor areas, creating an open and comfortable space for visitors.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Tam, owner of a restaurant at Cua Lo beach, shared: "We renovated the restaurant space, invested in new tables and chairs, and added outdoor areas so that tourists can enjoy their meals right near the beach. The investment cost for these items was about 80 million VND. This doesn't include the rent we already signed with the landlord for 200 million VND/year because of its prime location on Binh Minh road. Although the cost is high, given the strong increase in tourism demand, our family still decided to invest."

Nghi Huong Ward has a coastline along Cua Lo Beach and Binh Minh Road stretching approximately 4km. According to statistics, the ward currently has 78 restaurants and eateries, and 79 accommodation establishments. Since the demolition of the kiosks on the east side of Binh Minh Road, most businesses have found stable locations to continue their operations.

Mr. Vo Ngoc Vinh, Vice Chairman of the Nghi Huong Ward People's Committee, said that to prepare for the new tourist season, the ward has established two teams to promote and encourage urban beautification among business households with specific tasks including: renovating and upgrading facilities, repairing and decorating shops and stalls, improving lighting systems, whitewashing, repainting fences, etc., to serve the needs of tourists and ensure the overall aesthetics of the city.

Establishments must maintain good environmental hygiene and ensure the landscape is preserved throughout the 2025 tourist season, especially preventing littering around the premises. They must display the national flag, the Party flag, banners, and slogans in front of restaurants and accommodation establishments with the title "Welcome to the Opening Ceremony of Cua Lo Beach Tourism in 2025 and other important national anniversaries," and owners of these establishments are required to complete this by April 10, 2025.

Ready to provide services

Alongside the renovation of restaurants and food service establishments, businesses are also paying special attention to preparing fresh food to serve tourists. Restaurants and eateries in Cua Lo have proactively partnered with reputable suppliers, ensuring that food is always fresh, delicious, and safe, from fresh seafood to vegetables and processed foods.

To prepare for the tourist season, we have signed contracts with fishermen and suppliers in the province to ensure a daily supply of fresh seafood. Squid, fish, shrimp, crabs, etc., are all purchased directly from fishing boats after they return early in the morning, guaranteeing freshness, eliminating intermediaries, reducing costs, and delivering high-quality products.

Currently, service establishments have begun recruiting staff in preparation for the tourist season, organizing training on communication skills and how to provide quick and professional service. Local residents in the Cua Lo beach area are committed to publicly and transparently displaying service prices at food stalls and on restaurant menus, making it easy for tourists to choose dishes that fit their budget.

According to statistics, the coastal areas of Cua Lo currently have more than 300 hotels and accommodation establishments with approximately 11,000 rooms. Each day, this system of facilities can serve around 30,000 overnight guests. To welcome the large number of tourists in the 2025 tourist season, accommodation establishments in Cua Lo, including hotels, guesthouses, and homestays, are actively preparing and upgrading their facilities to meet the increasing demands of tourists.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Son, representative of a 3-star hotel in Cua Lo beach, said: "This year, we have invested a large sum to upgrade the rooms, replace beds and wardrobes, redecorate the interior, and upgrade the air conditioning and bathroom systems. Each room is fully equipped with amenities such as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TV, and hot and cold water to best serve the needs of tourists when they come here for a vacation."

To maintain its natural beauty and create green spaces to attract tourists, comprehensive environmental cleaning and tree care in Cua Lo beach town are being urgently completed in preparation for the upcoming tourist season.

Walking along the Cua Lo coastal roads at this time of year, it's easy to spot sanitation workers busily cleaning the beach.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Van, an employee of Nghe An Urban Environment and Construction Joint Stock Company, shared: “We started cleaning up the beach for the tourist season at the beginning of March. Every day, our workers are present from early morning to collect waste on the beach, public facilities, roads, sidewalks, lawns, etc. We carefully inspect each area, especially places with high foot traffic and recreational activities. Waste is collected and transported promptly to avoid affecting the landscape.”

In addition, special attention is paid to maintaining the greenery before the tourist season to create a spacious, fresh environment as well as ideal photo spots for visitors.

According to observations, workers are focusing on pruning trees, prioritizing those with large diameters and heights, and those with heavy canopies. They are removing dry branches and leaves, sweeping up fallen leaves, and providing regular care and watering to ensure healthy growth, maintain beautiful shapes, and keep the foliage open, contributing to improved air quality and a better living environment. In some sparsely vegetated areas, new trees are being planted to enhance the landscape, create cool green spaces, and alleviate the upcoming summer heat.

According to the Department of Culture, Science and Information of Vinh City, this year's Cua Lo tourism season will feature many unique and attractive activities such as bicycle and ao dai (traditional Vietnamese dress) parade, a basket boat rowing competition, national sports competitions, a tourism and OCOP product fair, and culinary, cultural, and artistic exchanges. Particularly noteworthy is the grand opening ceremony of the tourism season, scheduled for April 19, 2025. These activities promise to bring a vibrant, rich, and attractive tourism season to Cua Lo beach in its first year after its merger with Vinh City.
