Earthquake in Myanmar, Thailand declares state of emergency.
On the afternoon of March 28, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra declared a state of emergency in Bangkok following a strong earthquake that struck Myanmar and was clearly felt in many countries in the region.

Prime Minister Shinawatra decided to postpone his trip to Phuket Island to hold an emergency meeting on the earthquake situation.
According to Xinhua News Agency, citing the Thai Emergency Response Center, a 30-story building under construction in Bangkok collapsed following a strong tremor. Many people are believed to be trapped inside.
Residents in high-rise buildings panicked and fled as strong tremors occurred. Several subway and elevated train lines were also temporarily suspended due to the earthquake. In addition, strong shaking was felt in Chiang Mai city.
An employee of the Vietnamese Embassy in Bangkok said that the embassy staff were safe. When there was strong shaking, everyone ran outside.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand is implementing necessary measures to quickly ascertain the situation of Vietnamese citizens in the country.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), at approximately 1:20 PM local time on March 28, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake occurred about 16km north-northwest of Sagaing, Myanmar. Meanwhile, information from the China Earthquake Networks Center (CENC) indicated that a 7.9 magnitude earthquake also occurred in Myanmar at the same time.
The earthquake affected several countries in the region, including Vietnam and Thailand.
