According to RIA Novosti on April 1st, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated in an interview that Russia and China have a special responsibility in maintaining peace and development worldwide.
"Our countries, as each other's largest neighbors, as world powers and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, have a special responsibility to maintain peace and development throughout the world," Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He noted that "under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, the strategic partnership and interaction between China and Russia have been continuously strengthened, not only fully in line with the logic of history but also demonstrating the strong autonomy of bilateral relations."
"This allows us to live in peace, harmony, and shared prosperity, and further contributes to the formation of a multipolar world and the democratization of international relations," the top Chinese diplomat added.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized that Russia-China relations do not pose a threat to other countries, and confrontation is not in the interest of Moscow or Beijing. According to him, "based on the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation, and not directing third parties, China-Russia relations do not pose any threat to others."
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is on an official visit to Russia from March 31 to April 2 at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The two sides are expected to discuss high-level contacts, the development of bilateral relations, and international issues, including Ukraine.
According to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, it is hoped that Russian President Putin will meet with Wang Yi in the coming days.
