According to RIA Novosti on April 1, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in an interview with RIA Novosti that Russia and China have special responsibilities in maintaining peace and development around the world.
“Our countries, as each other's largest neighbors, world powers and permanent members of the UN Security Council, have special responsibility for maintaining peace and development around the world,” Foreign Minister Wang Yi said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
He noted that "under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, the strategic partnership and interaction between China and Russia have been continuously strengthened, which not only fully conforms to the logic of history but also proves the strong autonomy of bilateral relations."
"This allows us to live in peace, harmony and common prosperity, and further contributes to the formation of a multipolar world and the democratization of international relations," China's top diplomat added.
Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed that Russia-China relations do not pose a threat to other countries, and confrontation is not in the interests of Moscow and Beijing. According to him, "based on the principles of non-alignment, non-confrontation and non-direction towards third parties, China-Russia relations do not pose any threat to others."
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is paying an official visit to Russia from March 31 to April 2 at the invitation of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. The parties are expected to discuss high-level contacts, the development of relations between the two countries and international issues, including Ukraine.
According to Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov, it is hoped that Russian President Putin will receive Wang Yi in the coming days.
