More than 96% of Nghe An voters agree with the commune merger plan.
According to the results of the synthesis of voters' opinions on the arrangement of commune-level administrative units in Nghe An province, 96.1% of voters agreed with the commune merger plan.

Voting results at People's Council (PC) meetings also showed a high consensus rate: 96.24% at the commune level and 95.53% at the district level.
Currently, Nghe An province has 412 commune-level administrative units, including 362 communes, 33 wards and 17 towns. The reorganization plan is expected to reduce the number of commune-level administrative units to 130 units, a reduction of 282 units (equivalent to 68.45%). Specifically, the province will have 11 wards and 119 communes left.
This afternoon, April 28, at the 28th Session (Special Session), the People's Council of Nghe An province will consider, discuss and approve the Resolution on the policy of rearranging commune-level administrative units in Nghe An province in 2025.
After the Provincial People's Council approves, the People's Committee of Nghe An province will prepare a dossier on the Project on rearranging commune-level administrative units in 2025 and submit it to the Government before May 1, 2025. On that basis, the Ministry of Home Affairs will appraise and prepare a dossier on the Government's Project to submit to the National Assembly Standing Committee for consideration and approval before May 30, 2025.
