According to TASS, US President Donald Trump's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said that the Ukrainian authorities want to suspend hostilities along the current line of contact, followed by the establishment of a 30-kilometer-wide demilitarized zone.

“The Ukrainians want to freeze, cease fire in the current positions, and then they want to establish a demilitarized zone,” Kellogg told Fox News, noting that Kiev is considering withdrawing Ukrainian troops about 15 kilometers (9 miles) and hopes the US will convince Russia to do the same.

“That opens up a 30km zone for the parties to monitor,” Mr Kellogg added.

In addition, the US President's special envoy for Ukraine said that Ukraine wants to establish a "comprehensive ceasefire for at least 30 days, with the possibility of extension." According to Mr. Kellogg, the US "has a real chance" of achieving a ceasefire in the conflict in Ukraine, and Washington is getting closer to this goal.

In June 2024, at a meeting with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian President Putin outlined the conditions for resolving the situation in Ukraine, including the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from Donbass and Novorossiya and Kiev's refusal to join NATO. In Ukraine, the rights, freedoms and interests of Russian-speaking citizens must also be fully guaranteed. In addition, Russia believes that it is necessary to lift all Western sanctions against the country and establish a non-military alliance and non-nuclear status for Ukraine.
