Arrest of subject who rented 3 self-driving cars to pawn
After renting 3 self-driving cars in Dak Lak, Do Van Thanh pawned them for money to spend.
On May 15, Dak Lak Provincial Police announced that they had decided to prosecute and temporarily detain Do Van Thanh (30 years old, residing in Quang Phu town, Cu M'gar district) for 4 months to investigate the acts of "Fraudulent appropriation of property", "Abuse of trust to appropriate property" and "Using fake seals or documents of agencies and organizations".

According to the initial investigation results, Thanh knew 3 people who were in the business of renting self-driving cars in Buon Ma Thuot City and Cu Mgar District (Dak Lak).
In 2024, due to business losses, Thanh came up with the idea of renting a car and pawning it to get money to pay off debt.
From March to December 2024, Thanh rented 3 cars from 3 acquaintances and then pawned them for more than 500 million VND. Of which, for 1 car, Thanh went on social networks to order a fake registration certificate in his name to easily carry out the pawning.
After the car rental period expired, the 3 victims contacted Thanh many times to get their cars back, but discovered that he had pawned the car and could no longer redeem it. These people filed a complaint against Thanh with the police.
Currently, Dak Lak Provincial Police have recovered 2 cars (worth 760 million VND) and continue to verify and recover the remaining car.
