Tien Ky is a remote commune with a natural land area of nearly 3,488 hectares, located 25 km from the district center. The entire commune has 1,412 households with 6,071 inhabitants living in 5 hamlets, of which the Thai ethnic minority accounts for 72.1%.

Recognizing that the national target program for building new rural areas is a major, long-term policy, the Party Committee of Tien Ky commune has developed a specialized resolution to focus on leading its implementation. The locality has chosen a breakthrough area to complete the criteria: prioritizing economic development to increase people's income.

Tien Ky commune is promoting a positive shift in its economic structure: increasing the proportion of small-scale industries, construction, services, and trade; encouraging people to learn vocational skills and go abroad for work. People are applying scientific and technological advancements to farming and livestock breeding, yielding considerable economic benefits, such as the model of breeding pigs for reproduction and the model of concentrated sugarcane cultivation.

The commune boasts traditional rice wine and Chỉn xồm Vân Tiên, both recognized as OCOP 3-star products by the Tân Kỳ District People's Committee. The village of Thái Minh has a thriving brocade weaving industry, gradually establishing its brand in the market, creating jobs for local women, and offering beautiful scenery and unique cultural characteristics of the Thái ethnic group, thus providing favorable conditions for developing a community-based homestay tourism model.

To date, people's living standards have improved, the number of well-off households has increased, the number of poor households has decreased, and the rural landscape is becoming more modern and comprehensively transformed.
