Arrested a group of people who took over hundreds of Facebook accounts to commit fraud

Quoc, Nguyen and Phong created voting pages on a website platform to take over other people's Facebook accounts and commit fraud.

The Criminal Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police has just successfully fought a case coded 174L, arresting 3 people to investigate the act of fraud and property appropriation on the internet.

The three people in criminal detention include Nguyen Cong Quoc (born 2005), Le Quang Nguyen (born 1996) and Nguyen Huu Phong (born 1995; all residing in Trieu Dai commune, Trieu Phong district, Quang Tri province).

According to the initial investigation results, Nguyen Cong Quoc, Le Quang Nguyen and Nguyen Huu Phong confessed to creating voting pages on the website weebly.com to commit fraud and take over other people's Facebook accounts.

Then, using the stolen Facebook account to text to borrow money from the victim's friends and relatives and requesting to transfer money to a bank account with the same name as the Facebook account owner, so the victims completely trusted and transferred money.

Using this method, from 2024 until being discovered, this group of people took over hundreds of Facebook accounts and defrauded hundreds of millions of dong.

The Criminal Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police recommends that people need to be more vigilant and prevent online fraud. At the same time, it is requested that any victims who are involved contact and coordinate with the unit for handling.

Previously, on May 8, the Criminal Police Department of Quang Tri Province Police also issued a decision to prosecute Doan Thanh Phong (born in 1998, residing in Hai Quy commune, Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province) for fraud and property appropriation.
