Nghe An: Vocational schools attract students because of many advantages
Vocational training is increasingly being chosen by many parents and students. In this context, many vocational schools are proactively changing, introducing attractive policies to expand learning and career opportunities for learners.
Learn a trade and get paid at the same time
At the end of May, Vy Ngoc Tue (Thai ethnic group, Chau Binh commune, Quy Chau district), a student of the Industrial Sewing class at the College of Economics - Industrial Technology - Handicraft, received 13 million VND in support for the second semester according to Decision 53/2015/QD-TTg. In addition to support for travel and personal belongings, she received more than 2.3 million VND in boarding fees each month and was completely exempted from tuition fees.
Many students from mountainous districts learn a trade while receiving money. This helps them reduce the burden of studying far from home.

In order to attract students, since the middle of the second semester, staff and teachers of the College of Economics - Industrial Technology - Handicraft have visited many localities, enthusiastically "knocking on every door, checking every subject" to advise on career orientation. The school also coordinated with Vocational Education - Continuing Education Centers and businesses to organize a Career Guidance Day with the theme "Brightening the path to dreams - Touching the future" so that parents and students have the opportunity to talk directly with experts and employers about career trends.
Students who are currently streamed have many advantages. They study both general education and vocational training; they are exempted from tuition fees and receive living support according to state policies. During their studies, they also have the opportunity to do internships at enterprises to practice skills that are relevant to the modern working environment.

At the Western Nghe An Economic and Technical College, currently more than 85% of the students are ethnic minority children, mainly studying agriculture-related majors. To meet the learning needs, this year, the school has increased the enrollment quota for the Veterinary Medicine major from 70 to 100 students.

Mr. Tran Xuan Dung - Principal of Nghe An Western Economic and Technical College, shared: "We have recruited more than 200/450 intermediate level targets, most of whom are junior high school graduates. To achieve this result, since the end of February, the school has actively coordinated with local authorities, directly providing career counseling at high schools."
In the past, students and parents were hesitant about vocational training. However, thinking has changed now. Many students, despite having enough points to enter public high schools, still choose to study.apprenticeThis shows that consulting and orientation in accordance with capacity and labor market needs is a key factor.

Many opportunities to go abroad
Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce recently held a farewell ceremony for 6 students majoring in Culinary Arts who will be doing a 12-month internship in Taiwan.
In this program, students receive free language training, receive a salary of 13.5 million VND/month and are awarded a certificate after completing the program. Le Minh Bao - one of the selected students, shared: "When I chose to study at a vocational school, I never thought I would be able to do an internship abroad. This is an opportunity for me to improve my expertise and foreign language skills and I hope that after completing the internship program, I will have the opportunity to work in developed countries.

Strengthening training cooperation and linking with foreign partners to send students to practice and work after graduation is one of the outstanding strengths of Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce.
Especially this year, besides traditional markets such as Germany, Taiwan, Japan, etc., the school has expanded cooperation with a number of universities in Korea, creating conditions for students to continue studying and working after 6 months of training in Vietnam.
The advantage of the program is that after completing the course, students will be transferred to a work visa and will be arranged a part-time job to cover their own expenses while studying and living abroad.

In addition to the opportunity to work abroad, students from intermediate level and above studying majors related to hotels and restaurants are also arranged for paid internships from the first year. The internship lasts 4 months, from April to August, at partner restaurants and hotels.
Nowadays, vocational training is a trend chosen by many students. As for the school, we always create the best conditions for students to study with peace of mind.
Compared to many other training programs, vocational students have many distinct advantages, and we are committed to supporting employment for students immediately after graduation.
Mr. Phan Dang Truong - Head of Training Department, Nghe An College of Tourism and Commerce
At many vocational schools, the model of free foreign language training and increased connections for students to exchange internships and work abroad is currently being implemented to attract students.
According to provincial statistics, in the past 3 years, schools have supported more than 8,900 students to participate in internships and vocational training. In addition, domestic and foreign FDI enterprises have recruited more than 29,600 students after graduation to work and work abroad under fixed-term contracts.
To attract learners, schools need to proactively update and innovate training programs and teaching methods; at the same time, promote cooperation and linkage with businesses in training, practice and ensure policies for students. In addition, strengthening the connection between the State - schools - businesses in vocational skills training and job creation for learners is a key solution to improve the quality and effectiveness of current vocational training.

In 2025, according to Decision No. 1092/QD-UBND dated April 18, 2025, Nghe An assigned 9,750 enrollment and training targets to vocational training institutions in 2025. Specifically, there are 1,330 targets for college level, 4,550 targets for intermediate level and 3,870 targets for primary level.
The new point in this year’s admission season is that vocational schools have moved to a new management agency – the Ministry of Education and Training. Thanks to that, in addition to traditional admission channels, candidates can register their wishes through the Ministry’s general admission system, expanding their opportunities to access and choose suitable majors.
