Students who failed the 10th grade public exam are rushing to find schools and classes.
When the door to public grade 10 closed, many candidates chose another path to continue to achieve the goal of completing high school and starting to orient their future careers.
Early admission
With 13.75 points, Ta Quang Ngoc - a 9th grader at Khanh Son Secondary School (Nam Dan) is nearly 2 points short of being admitted to Nam Dan 2 High School. This result is undesirable for Ngoc, because compared to previous years, this score is quite safe. However, this year, due to having to compete with many students from other regions, he no longer has the opportunity to be admitted to a public school.
Because they could not study near home, right after learning the results, Ngoc's family considered many options and planned to study at a non-public school in Nam Dan district. However, because Khanh Son is located on the other side of the river, nearly 20 km from the town to study, the commute was difficult.
Not wanting their child to drop out of school, the family decided to send their child to Hong Lam Technical and Economic College to study culture under the regular education program. Every day, after finishing school, Ngoc will stay in the school dormitory. On weekends, she will ride her motorbike home by herself.

Speaking more about this, Ngoc said: I was really sad when I failed to get into a public school. Therefore, I decided that I had to try really hard in grade 10. For now, I have not registered for vocational training but only focused on studying culture. Maybe after completing grade 12, I will join the army and then go to vocational training to work abroad.
At the same time that his peers were practicing military training, Ms. Hoang Thi Nho in Nghi Hai Ward (Cua Lo Town) also brought her son to enroll in the school. Her son used to be a student at Hai Hoa Secondary School. In the recent 10th grade entrance exam, this male student only scored nearly 15 points, so even though he transferred his application from Nghi Loc 3 High School to Nghi Loc 4 High School, he still did not have enough points to pass the exam.
With the hope that her child would continue to complete high school, her family decided to send her to study at Hong Lam Economic and Technical College, both in the form of general education and vocational training.
Sharing about his decision, this parent said: Not being admitted to the public 10th grade was not something he wanted, but I hope that from this failure, he will continue to strive to improve. Our family chose this environment because it is the closest school to our house and the curriculum is also suitable for our family's wishes.

With 17.5 points, student Nguyen Anh - Hung Binh Secondary School also failed his first choice to enter Le Viet Thuat High School. Although his exam score was enough to enter the advanced program, he finally decided to enter the Vinh City Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center to suit his family's circumstances.
This is also the choice of many parents and students in the city, because students studying in the GDTX system only have to study 7 cultural subjects. During the study process, students can both study culture to pass the high school graduation exam and learn a trade. Tuition fees for the GDTX program are cheaper than those for the general education program and help families save a lot of study costs.
Many learning opportunities
The national defense and civic education class for more than 400 10th graders of Hong Lam Technical and Economic College began on July 16, just one month after the 10th grade exam results were announced. Only about 50% of the class’s students are in the streaming category, while the rest are students who have just failed to enter public 10th grade. Currently, the number of students enrolled in the school has exceeded the target by more than 100 students and the school has stopped accepting applications.

In the list of students admitted to the school, nearly half of the candidates are from Hoang Mai town. The rest come from many mountainous districts and some students come from Vinh city, Cua Lo town and Nghi Loc district.
Teacher Phan Van Thuan - Vice Principal of the school said: Students entering our school have many priorities. For example, if they are students from mountainous areas, they are exempted from tuition fees for cultural studies, vocational training and receive a government policy scholarship. For the remaining groups, the tuition fees for cultural studies are also very low, the highest is only 130,000 VND/student and vocational training is exempted.

At the Vinh City Vocational Education and Continuing Education Center, this year, the school will enroll nearly 400 students in grade 10 of the continuing education program. In recent days, after public schools announced their admission scores, more than 100 students have registered directly at the school. At the same time, the school is continuing to accept students from many other affiliated institutions in the form of both general education and vocational training.
Teacher Dang Thi Tu Linh - Director of the Center said: For the first students enrolled, we organized a meeting with parents and students and informed them about the school's curriculum. There are many opportunities for students and we hope that many students will register for the school. In addition to studying culture, students also learn many professions such as: beauty care, food processing techniques, reception services to be able to have a dual degree after graduation.
In addition to vocational schools and vocational training centers, currently, candidates who fail to pass public schools can continue to register to study at non-public schools. Teacher Le Thi Hien - Principal of Mai Hac De High School (Nam Dan) said: Our school has 360 quotas this year and about 300 students registered for NV1. The school also has a list of students admitted to NV2 and NV3 based on their 10th grade exam scores and we are waiting for them to enroll. If there are still quotas left, the school will recruit more candidates.
To attract students to the school, the school principal said that priority was given to students who registered for their first choice of admission through direct consideration. The remaining students, if they passed the public school entrance exam but voluntarily registered to study at the school, would have their tuition fees reduced.

After announcing the admission scores for public schools according to NV1, many public schools have also announced NV2 and NV3 with quite low admission scores. For example, at Que Phong High School, the admission score for NV2 is 14.35 points, Ky Son High School is 9.8 points, Yen Thanh 2 High School is 16.45 points. In addition, schools in Vinh city such as Ha Huy Tap High School, Huynh Thuc Khang High School, Le Viet Thuat High School have announced the admission scores for the advanced system with an average score of about 17 points.
Thus, with many forms of admission and many different admission options, if you fail to pass the public school entrance exam, there are still many other opportunities to continue studying. Based on personal abilities and wishes, parents and students need to consider choosing a school that is suitable for themselves and their family's circumstances.
